My rig is in my sig, and as you can see, i have an AGP X800 XL. So i was thinking of upgrading my AXP 3200+ to an A64 3000 or 3200 and OC to like 2.8. And I am going to have to keep this card for 2 more years. So i was wondering when ULi is comming out so I can keep my X800 XL for about 2 more years.
 
Buy any random AGP-only mainboard, one that fits you well. In two years time, it'll be well time to change out the entire platform anyway.
 
Besides the ability to drop in a pci-e x16 card later the Uli chipset also lets you get Sata II on one drive, Pci-e x1 for future add-in cards while keeping your current AGP card. I am happy with my 6800gt for now, but my athlon xp just isn't going to cut it when my little one gets here and I start editing a lot more pics and vids. I would like to drop in an x2 4200 and update the ram/hdd all at the same time but I am on a 19" LCD and keep the 6800gt that handles 1280x1024 just fine for the amount of gaming I do. But, I would like to keep the abilty to upgrade the video in another generation if something new makes it worthwhile. The 1695 set makes my upgrade path possible even if I exclude the M2 expansion port that Asrock is offering. And if that does come to market so much the better. I am sure there are at least a few people in my stiutation who would appreciate someone bringing this chipset to the states(Asrock has had aboard for sale overseas for a while now).
 
Sure, if your plans involve a major upgrade next year, then a mainboard with PCIE and room for a dualcore CPU will make sense.

The original poster's plan is to keep the graphics card for two years to come - and on the CPU front, almost all socket-939 AGP boards do run the X2 processors just fine.
