Hereditary condition, huh?

Exactly. Who told them they had an hereditary condition? They should all be on a regimen of diet and exercise. Don't tell me you can't exercise with asthama and/or diabetes. NOT TRUE. Most can. I have bad asthma, but it's well-controlled with inhalers.

The English smoke more than we do, and they drink a lot more than we do as well. It's time for them to grab themselves by the asses and yank hard. I'm NOT sympathetic.

The girl says she doesn't know how to exercise and doesn't have time because she's in school! Good grief.....Talk about lame. BUT, in some mitigation, THATCHER, the right wing Reaganite NUT CASE, started dismantling all the school athletic facilities and selling off the schools' soccer fields, tracks, tennis courts, etc. Those kids get no physical education to speak of! Three out of four Brits couldn't run a mile non-stop, even if they were trying to escape the Russkies or some terrorist. It's just bloody awful.

This is what America has almost come to as well. The obesity levels in America are beyond belief. Our men are fat pussies, loaded up with estrogens from high fat levels. I shouldn't get started on this topic because it completely blows my mind how people are given a lovely body at birth, but slowly destroy it with stupid behavior.

The help being given to inmates is a good idea, btw. It reduces recidivism. I worked on a prison reform project for two summers and that was one of our final recommendations to Congress. If you go to jail, you are about 10 times more likely to stay unemployed when you get out. People just don't want to hire ex-cons.

Government must have policies that WORK, not policies that meet some pre-determined right wing or socialist agenda.

Nicely put Robert. I agree for the most part. Shameful shameful.

This is the self-hate you talk about. Getting this fat, and destroying your body is a form of suicide. These people's self-confidence must be at kneecap levels. It's very sad, but they need help with diet and exercise, not more money.

One of the lessons all kids should learn is what happens to your body if you don't take care of it. That can easily be taught with a few pictures. By age 20, a girl can be as fit as Kirilenko, or as fat and ill as the girls in that family. Essentially, what they have done is speed up their physiological aging. All of those people are older than I am, physiologically. I'm 66.

So, are you saying self-hate is good? Are they helping society by being a terrible warning? :)

Self-hate can motivate. I agree with chess9 about fitness. I think it's just terrible how people destroy their bodies over time through poor diet and lack of movement. It does disgust me to see them do it and eat endlessly destroying their physical potential for a quick fix on their taste buds. And it does add years to one's apparent age. The headline this morning, we've heard it before, being obese adds 10 years to your life. I know people who are obese and I know those who aren't, and by the time a person gets a few years under their belt, say 50-60 years old the difference in apparent and real health between an obese indolent and somebody who exercises and eats properly is day and night, like they almost came from a separate species.

I have people close to me who are killing themselves with alcohol and food. I cannot act high and mighty and deride them to their faces, but the example I have set for the last 15 years has fallen mostly on deaf ears. Not entirely, but mostly. Life is a gift that people throw in the trash when they act so terribly with themselves.

Skoorb asked if there were any mirrors in my house. I am a house of mirrors and I reflect who people are from many angles. I showed you how news that the fat and lazy were getting something for nothing would bring those who are magnetized by contempt, the projection of self hate, to the fore. And they came in droves like worms to a corpse.

Now I ask you, did my contemptuous derision of these fools change one single thing. Are not these indolent hating fat heads not as hating as ever. Did they not, in reflection on my admonitions turn their bitter little knives on me?

Think please. Are not these hateful little vermin with their pustular festering lives the reason fat people hate themselves? Do they not train the fat and the lazy to self hate? I happen to know that they do.

They were turned bitter in childhood by the exact same insults they now vomit all over other. They carry and transmit the disease and they can't be cured by my contempt either. I showed they who they are and how they react when I act exactly like them but to them and not to the fat and lazy.

When will you see that you can't change the world through condemnation. Oh you say you hide it from family members, but you are not wise if you think you can hide what you feel. You will relay your contempt and disdain one way or another.

Unless you can die to your own self hate you will infect others.

If you want to help the fat and the lazy cure your own self hate. Can you be fat and lazy and still love yourself? If you don't want to waste your life then you will have to love because there is only love. If you do not love it is you who make people fat and lazy and every other form of self-hating.

Remember, that although your contempt for others is nothing but the hidden contempt of self, you have been forgiven and always were. Good luck to you.

You must hate yourself the most of all, I'm afraid. I have always admired your ability to lay out insults, and your post is a fantastic example of it, but truly your misanthropy is on a legendary scale. I just do wonder if you realize it.

IF you are saying that society breeds fat people, I agree. But, this isn't rocket science. It isn't like trying to fix schizophrenia by yourself, or change from being a right wing Republican to a normal person. :) Simply get control of your eating and start exercising. I know this sounds simplistic, and perhaps it really is for a FEW. Everyone is different and losing weight is much harder for some than others. But almost anyone can do it. We have a guy at our tennis club who is 30 and started back playing tennis at 300 lbs. He's now down to about 240 lbs. Still pretty big, but he's keeping at it. Check out The Biggest Loser on TV. Those folks had to face their own self-loathing, laziness, and bad habits, but they were motivated (mostly by fame and money would be my conjecture). The best motivation is that you will not only live a bit longer, but the quality of that life will be much better.

Everyone doesn't hate themselves, Moonbeam. We disagree about that. But I do agree that there exists a sort of cultural loathing that is the sub-text of much of our pleasure seeking. Pain is very good. It's not only the body's way of telling you about your health, but it also tells you you're still alive. Growth comes with accepting the pain and learning from it. If you don't know what I mean, go for a 20 mile run tonight. ;)

Or maybe I just know a lot about self hate because, well you know, I'm in touch with my self hate. I know how worthless people feel they are because I know how worthless I feel.

But it's feeling worthless and not being aware of it that makes people act worthless because acting worthless is acting out of denial.

Look in this mirror and tell me what you see.

This story isn't this family's first attempt at fame.

This is the daughter's attempt at auditioning for one of those pop idol TV shows:
Youtube

You can just see the astonishing family dynamics at work.

She can dance, though. Definitely could work at that weight.

Some of the responses are terrible from people!

no, my sweet little Beem, they are even more worthless!
well said mate!

Mega chain supermarkets are to blame for this.
Vote with your dollars'
buy your food from your local producer markets(in most of Europe these are open every day) demand that your municipal council, provides a central, large and public funded, maintained area for that market place, to sell fresh locally produced meat, fruit, vegetables and artisan handy wears- no imports allowed for sale there!

I think of the town of Makarska on the Dalmatian coast in Croatia as a model (anyone been there)?
I didn't see a single obese person on my holiday through that town. No mack gonalds there!

Speaking to an ol' farmer there tending to a plot about 25m2. "I said do use fertilizer on the crop?"
He said "No! it will grow to quickly and have less nutrient content, you'd have to eat to much of it to get the same benefit and he would have to harvest it all at once instead of picking daily just for the amount of which he would sell at the market."

The funny thing is that if they were never given anything they would be slimmer, healthier, had to develop a work ethic just to eat and by now they would also be happier.

I've been to a few coastal towns in Croatia and the only obese people there are tourists and that is a fact. I have never seen such a high percentage of beautiful women and everybody does indeed look healthy and trim. These are not rich areas, but the people look a hell of a lot healthier than westerners.
