Even in this super-PC time in America, thankfully we really dont have a tolerance for the Obese. Unlike skin color, race, learning and physical disabilites, sexual orientation etc, you can control the amount of food energy you consume and burn. As the current crop of Chipotle and Energy-drink kids grow older, will our attitude change to resemble that of Europe?

Link

"Philip Chawner, 53, and his 57-year-old wife Audrey weigh 24st. Their daughter Emma, 19, weighs 17st, while her older sister Samantha, 21, weighs 18st.

"The family from Blackburn claim £22,508 a year in benefits, equivalent to the take-home pay from a £30,000 salary."

Edit: I guess I missed the ongoing discussion in OT, although this could be a more mature discussion

Yep. Being overweight, lazy, gambling, smoking, are all apparently 'medical conditions' requiring a bailout.

They should be fed to livestock. England is falling apart. They recently approved something like 5 million pounds to cover living expenses for inmates let out of prison early. A lot of it you cannot even make up but wish you had. The litany of miscues in their policies are truly endless. Not that the US is without fault, but God help the US if it starts to emulate the UK in its current path.

"We have cereal for breakfast, bacon butties for lunch and microwave pies with mashed potato or chips for dinner," Mrs Chawner told Closer magazine.

I laughed out loud. The hell is a "baon buttie"?

Article stated:

The Chawners, haven't worked in 11 years, claim their weight is a hereditary condition and the money they receive is insufficient to live on.

Followed by:

The family claim to spend £50 a week on food and consume 3,000 calories each a day. The recommended maximum intake is 2,000 for women and 2,500 for men.

Hereditary condition, huh?

Yep, in US being obese is considered a medical condition which is not much of a leap to a benefit collectable disability. In fact I bet we have many on disability already.

Oh yessir.. I see about 1-2 obese patients per week who want to go on permanent disability for being so overweight it's killing their knees and backs.

Do you want to cut them up and feed them to pigs?

Anyway, a stone is 14 lbs.

Nope, but I sure just get a little irritated when I see quite overwieight people buying snickers/chips on their brand spankin' "food stamp debit card" (google this, you can buy pretty much anything at mom-pop stores with this card) while getting disability payments for their "overweightness"

336 pounds is pretty damn heavy but not so heavy as to prevent working.

I've seen people far heavier drive around, work desk jobs, etc.

they're just scamming the system.

Looks like a story from your newspapers, not ours.

If you are ashamed, do something about it with your vote.

that is incorrect.

it's hard not to bash England regarding this, though, because they're the ones letting these obvious scammers live on the dole.

We reserve the right to be as self-hating as we want. It's in the magna carta. We shouldn't have to put up with Americans (our closest friends and allies of all people) giving us shit at every opportunity though.

If you are ashamed, do something about it with your vote.

By voting conservative? I'd rather move to France. And that's saying something. What I want is a proper Labour government, as in the real meaning of the word 'labour', that supports the working man. Not these bums. They have no more place in a socialist system than a capitalist one.

The point of this thread is not to bash Britian. The point of this thread is awareness, so that this country does not follow the same path in regards to obesity. (Not in terms of being obese, we obviosuly have that, but in the way we treat the obese)

Rewarding the over-consumption of food product combined with laziness is not something this country can afford to do.

There is a class of brain dead, self-hating, worthless swine who, at the slightest whiff of news that somewhere, somehow, some fat and lazy person got something for nothing, immediately launch into a set of preprogrammed convulsions and well rehearsed conniption fits. They do this in unison to give their worthlessness and insignificance some appearance of relevancy, an opportunity to engage in self flattery that somebody is more worthless than they, but naturally they are just as worthless.

Your over-eating and lack of exercise does not constitute a negative on my part for thinking you are a drain on society for living off of government cheese.

Try again.
