Your profile says that you are in Iceland. I dont know what things cost there, so do not know if London shopping is a bargain for you. For me... most things cost at least 1.5x to 2x there what I would pay for it here.

plus money is a lot easier to come by here than it is there.

But VeggieFrog is there... she grew up there, is in college there and will be there for at least another year. So, I will go there every chance I get, no matter the cost.

Plus, where i lived... the North East is gorgeous.

whereabouts in the North East did you live?

I lived in a town Called Guisborough, Cleveland. post code TS14
VeggieFrog goes to York Uni.
She is currently taking a year out to do an internship with a company in Rotherham.

While I lived in the UK I took day trips all over the UK quite often, but not down as far as the London area. I had enough of the London area when I had VeggieFrog's custody battle in the strand. ;)

But The North Yorkshire Moors, the Cleveland Hills are places I went to hundreds of times.

Lancaster/Wakefield up thru Northumberland, and parts of Scotland... been around most of it for day trips.

One of my favorite places on the planet is Ravenscar.

Never been to the North East  Shameful really - have spent lots of time in the North West in the Peak/Lake Districts though

I used to go to the Lake/Peak district quite often. Excellent hiking there. Gorgeous.

:)

Blackpool once for my birthday... it was May... hahaha. cold, wet and everything was closed.

Lancashire, chester, cumbria, merseyside, chester... took day trips to loads of places in the 8yrs i lived in the UK.

in my most recent trip there... i went to a fancy dress ball for holloween in recar for charity benefit. i showed up late, no costume... told everyone i was going as an American. When they started calling the winning numbers for the lottery tickets, i tried to buy one last minute. The only coins i had totalled about 2 quid, so i got 10 tickets....

guess who won the grand prize? hahaha... all expenses paid for dinner and a night stay in a historic B&B in the Lake district. Pissed a lot of ppl off, cause they had bought 50 quids worth of tickets and won nothing. But I gave the prize to VeggieFrog... so.

:) :) :)

Yeah, the Lake District is amazing - stayed in Ambleside last year and did some fantastic walks. Used to go to Blackpool or Alton Towers every summer :) happy memories of them!

Congrats on winning the raffle!

One day I'll make it over to the other side of the pond

America would welcome you.

But before you can do that... i would definately recommend going to the NE of England. Some of the most beautiful country side on the planet can be found there. The north yorkshire moors and dales are spectacular.

And Ravenscar can bring me to tears. (not my pic, but i recognise it from Raven's Hall Hotel).

And you have Robin Hood's Bay and Whitby... whew... just amazing.

All of these places used to be my playground.

:)

Definitely want to see the Yorkshire moors - maybe that will be this year's holiday. :)

So many beautiful places to visit
