UK ATOT's - Places to visit?

Hi there,

Me and my best mate are planning to do a road trip up the east coast of england to scotland and then back down the west coast and midlands area (I live in West Sussex).

Was just wondering if anyone had any good places to visit/go along the way?

Jamie

My home town of Colchester is quite nice, it has one of only 2 castles in the UK built under the reign of the Normans I believe (Tower of London being the other), it has the UK's only world-class roller skating place, RollerWorld. There is quite a bit of archealogy if you're into that.

But as for the rest of the UK, pass! 😉

London is good.

Personally dont do much travelling.

Scotland and the Lake District are both great scenery and great roads 🙂

Perhaps on your return trip down the west you could make a venture into Wales? Some on the towns there are quite nice like Aberstwyth and Swansea.

Looking for both a bit scenery and some nightlife along the way too hopefully...yeah I think Lake district has gotta be a must...last visited there when I was 15....no doubt will be taking orders for Kendal Mint Cake.

I think the first stop will be Southend on Sea...wanna walk down that pier....that is the right town isn't it?...the one with the 1 mile long pier?

Hey colchester is not too far from there is it not garry?....roller skating...that could be painful. We're thinking about camping a few days, maybe satying in B&B's for a couple of nights...

Yeah maybe able to nip into wales...always wanted to visit that island off the north whose name escapes me....and probably I cannot pronounce.

Nah, Colchester is about an hour tops from Southend

If you're going to visit Colchester, and it's a weekend, let me know, and we can hook up somewhere. Colchester has some OK nightlife, if you're into clubbing there's a few clubs, or if you're a more rocky person, there's a great place called The Twist that has live music every night!

There's a couple of campsites around Colchester, and some B&Bs as well.

Make sure you drive through the Peak District and do the A537 between Macclesfield and Buxton, it's a great road for driving.
Nothing like caning your car down there on a quiet sunny morning 🙂

I would also include North Wales as part of your trip, Conwy's quite a nice place although a little out of the way.
