i guess this is from my home computer, my brother must be sharing Korn songs on winmx....this is pretty freakin stupid.

korn sucks in my opinion, but not for the reason you sited...

you just got caught with your pants down... or rather, your hd open.
what type of verizon service do you have? they read your hd?

wow dude... you got an internet company that openly tells you they read your hard drive? i would think they would just do that in secret............. hmm well if my internet provider (road runner) ever comes after me for having illegal songs on my hard drive i can always get them by saying i signed that contract when i was only 16 years old, so its not technically legal, since there was never a co-signer 😉

Yeah. You'd think they'd be more secretive about doing something like that.

i think my brother is sharing these files somehow on WinMX...i dont know how it led back to our email address though.

Well I'm sure they have a record of who was leased what IP and when and thus they know who you are and what your e-mail addr is.
And probably your addr and phone #....

this definately sucks, big time.

imagine if everyone of RR's and @home's or whatever broad band provider's customers got an e-mail stating we have illegal music on our hdd and they are going to shut our internet off if we get another "complaint."

That would definately suck.

I would be pretty annoyed that they scanned your hard drive without a warrant or something that is just insane

It looks like they caught the illegal files because your was PC sharing them, NOT from some Big Brother random HD check. So if you turn off sharing you can keep all the MP3s on your HD that you want.

No, his PC is sharing the files, making the HD contents available for everyone (including his ISP) to see. No warrant needed if you have a sign on your front door saying "free Warez inside, come in, everyone is welcome!"

did they download the files in question and listen to them to verify they were actually what they were after? you can name your files any way you choose.

<< you guys should use ipsec and encrypt all your traffic so the man cant look at it or connect to you computer. >>

That's friggen hilariously ironic coming from a Microsoft fanboy.

Unless you're trying to hawk a MS W2K IPSec server.

so when did verizon start cracking down on file sharing programs? anyone else have verizon dsl and got the same email?

korn does suck........man, can't you use a firewall or something? that sucks, i'd be pissed(even though it would have been my fault(or brothers))...
