I did a quick search to figure out how many files on my c: driver containing the text of "Microsoft".

Without surprise, the total number is: 2869.

On my c drive I have office xp professional, photodraw, win2k advanced server, win98se and other ms products:

files containg microsoft: 6995
total files on c drive: 29007

Number of Microsoft products on this computer: about 8.

Number of Microsoft products I've paid for: about 1.

Windows 3.1 sure was worth it.

Well, maybe it's because each file contains information about company that produced it. And since you probably have ms office and ms windows installed, it's no surprise most of the files were created by microsoft.

akumax, you did named, not contains the word, i had 33 named microsoft something or other and it's been searching for over a minute now on files containing microsoft.

either you're not running a microsoft operating system or you just searched for file names, not text within the file.

27, including folder names.

Perhaps some of us are using different search methods?

Here is how I searched:

In Find/Files or Folders, I typed in "*microsoft*.*", minus quotes.
