Unless he's made of rubber that ankle is toast for several weeks.

That replay just made me cringe.

ROFLMAO. You wish. That's like calling the Chargers Super Bowl champions you idiot. :p

Chargers didn't have the best record in the NFL or arguably the best 1-2 combo in the league.

I can't understand why players don't wear ankle braces of some sort. Taping is poor protection, and sprains are the biggest factor in putting players on the injured list.

It's a cost/risk thing I'd think. You'd give up so much mobility and flexibility to attempt at preventing something that *typically* heals up in a couple hours at best, to a couple weeks at the worst. Sure there are extreme cases where somebody is out a season from a sprain but I'd imagine a brace would just make that *slightly* less worse.

When you are coming down with force that these are from the speed and heights that they do, I just can't help but think that anything that *wouldn't* impair their game play would be worth the minimal reduction in injury.

There are some great ankle braces out there that offer excellent lateral support from rolling, but are also hinged and provide a tremendous amount of flexibility. The problem with bad ankle injuries is that the ankle never returns to the same level of strength, just like constantly overstretching a rubber band (not to mention more serious damage often occurs).

I've used T2 ankle braces and they have saved many sprains from happening. Having a little less lateral movement isn't so bad - it even provides leverage to do some things that the ankles may not be strong enough to do alone, which is great. And thats an off-the-shelf product and not custom fit like a professional would have.

Not to compare my experience to their needs, but its foolish imo to not protect the ankles in the nba, since their livelihood depends on their health and its such a common but potentially devastating injury..
