On Friday, April 29th, my fiancee and I met up with her parents at a local Mexican restaurant. We all ordered Fajita Nachos (steak) and cheese dip. We ate around 6:30pm or so.
That night, around midnight, my fiancee threw up and I had barely slept because of an upset stomach. In the morning, her mother was also sick. Father = ok. I was the only one who ate the entire meal. I got sick in the morning, and the rest of the day I threw up 28 times. The next day, Sunday, I felt a little better, but had diarrhea. On Monday, I got sick another 4 or 5 times and went to the emergency room that night after taking my first final exam. I was given two saline on my IV because of dehydration. They also gave me this nausea medicine (Finergin?) that made me feel like I drank 8 beers in 10 seconds. They also prescribed muscle relaxers because of an upset stomach.
The next day, my father called and got in touch with the restaurant corporate office and the store owner. He went through his whole "my associates are trained to be clean" blah blah crap. After owning him on the phone, he agreed to have his insurance call my father to negotiate a settlement. Hopefully get some cash for my pain and suffering during the week of finals. My dad said $1500 or so on top of the medical bills being paid should be sufficient. The insurance company is supposed to call tomorrow to work it out. I'll keep you all posted!
Cliff's notes:
1. Four people, including me, ate at a Mexican restaurant. 3 got sick, including me. I got severely sick and had to go to the emergency room because I couldn't even hold down a glass of water after 3 days without throwing it up.
2. Owner didn't want to apologize, was defensive about the whole thing.
3. Owner got owned and scared by health department/ mexican worker / bad press threats, agreed to jolt his insurance company to call us for a settlement.
4. ....
5. Profit!
