actually they were white.
If it looks like the driver of the vehicle will be unable to afford a lawyer. Seriously. Because any lawyer worth a mail-order law degree can beat a "probable cause on the basis of looking suspicious" contention.what determines 'suspicious vehicle'

Right or wrong, most cars you see pulled over have black drivers...

I've seen more white people pulled over than black people in NJ

I'm watching cops, and this cop pulls over an older car in a nicer area because he 'didn't belong in these parts, and is thus suspicious'
is that legal?

Of course it is. If you see a $80 Cadillac XLR driving down the streets of harlem, are you going to think "wow, that piece of crap fits in perfectly with the rest of the broke-ass bitches that live in Harlem too"? Or are you going to think "drug money, f'sho!"?
When you're a police officer, you see so much of the "bad people" so often that it starts to routinely become your first thought after quite some time. Pulling over an expensive car in a broke neighborhood is different than pulling over someone because they're black (because I just KNOW some stupid moron is going to pull the race card) or something.
The overwhelming majority of traffic cites I review and file ON A DAILY BASIS are white males and asian males. Not sure where you're getting your info.Originally posted by: Mwilding

It might have something to do with the fact that I live near Newark, NJ - car theft capitol of the world...
