System/Network Admin is gone today and I'm covering his position until he is back tommorow :). I'm the intern ( I'm 16), but he is currently looking over the Arkansas law firm's computers. This is going to be a much better day :) I now have a P3 1ghz 128mb ram system, nice upgrade from the one I usually use when he is here. I better go back to working as I have a large to-do list, but have already eliminated several items. One of my frustrating probelms is a laptop that misses keystrokes and sometimes mouseclicks... we have erased several things, registry cleaned, hard drive cleaned, bios updates, software updates, the works. I have a hunch that it may be related to the fact that his hard drive says it is FAT but is running Win98. I think this update MAY be related to the Win98 update, but I sort of doubt it as Sam ( admin) said that it would miss keystrokes in DOS. It could also be heat-related but HP sent it back saying no, ( well like they are a lot of help). Well I'll stop rambling now and get back to working :) I love this job and I love working for the guy I do, he's only 21 or 22 and we have a lot of fun working. Peace!

maybe theres a loose connection??

i thought win 98 had no problems with fat partitions?!?!?

edit: i can see the johnnyguru rant now...

"Stuipd system admin, and his intern... they got there mcse and they keep telling me the dang laptop is screwed coz win 98 doesnt take fat partitions. Erg!!! and now the admin is gone, and his intern is going around installing RC5 in every machine in site, including the webservers!"

:D;)

Yeah I agree, I don't think missed keystrokes has anything to do with it running FAT. Win98 supports FAT16 and FAT32. Sounds like a hardware prob if anything. It's a laptop, connectors do come loose.

If you have a spare laptop keyboard, try swapping it out to see if the problem persists. If it does, my hunch would be that you'll need a new system board.

Well HP did replace the motherboard hmm, yes it does seem out of softwares grasp..
Here is another one I got to do:
"When I select "Send to" from the File drop down menu bar in WordPerfect (Corel WP8), it now shows two identical "Mail Recipient" icons, although one is for the Windows Messaging ( non-functional) program. Hard to tell them apart. I send through my Outlook all the time, but never through Messaging. I'd like to have that one eliminated. "
Heh, he usually gives me a few probelms each day, but no biggie, I will get to that after I deal with the more prominent probelms.

Yes external keyboard works perfectly.. It is rather ridicilous of HP considering they have looked at it 3 times... LOL! I knew FAT worked with Win98, just I have always converted at home to FAT32, well we all learn things :) And yes it just me PUHAHAHAH!
