i think i broke my index finger on my right hand or it really hurts so bad it feels broken.
i slipped and fell on ice in my driveway today. my left hand has a small cut on it because of the fall also. not a very good day - car gets stuck in snow then falling. at least i didn't go to work because of the snow.

i can only bend it half way - any more and it causes extreme pain, any pressure put on it gives me extreme pain, straightening it out causes some pain. my middle finger on the same hand hurts but not anywhere near as bad as my index finger.

i think i already mentioned i hate snow...i hate winter in general!
 
It might also be a sprain? Impossible to diagnose over the internet (even if there were qualified doctors around, I guess - are there any MDs on ATOT?) go check it out with your doc.
 
Could be a sprain; can you feel any broken-ness on that finger with your other hand? A broken finger should be pretty easy to detect; if it feels like it should, maybe it's just a cracked bone or a sprain. Either way, a splint might not be a bad idea... Just immobilize it for a while.

If it's worse than that, you could hit up an urgent-care place.

it could be a sprain. my mom is a nurse so i had her look at it and she thinks i just sprained it. we'll see in a few days.

how do you feel broken-ness?
i've only ever broke my big toe once so i'm not sure what broken bones feel like.
my finger is bigger (can't think of the word for that right now for the life of me) than my other one. i can only bend it halfway, like an L shape, i can't make it bend more than that without pushing on it with my other finger. doing that causes extreme pain though.
 
If you broke it you would know. It hurts all the time until it feels like it goes numb from the pain, but then it hurts all over again. I know.

well, i did take 3 tylenol because it hurt so much. it hurt all the time before i took the tylenol. now its kind of a dullish pain all the time. hasn't gone numb yet though.
 
It's either mono or a yeast infection and you will need an operation now. Oh and guess what? I just saved a bunch of money by switching over to Geico! 🙂

Seriously though, hope tomorrow treats ya better.

how does one 'have' an x-ray? x-rays are emitted when electrons hit a surface after being accelerated faster than 8-10kV usually, so im not sure how someone can 'have' an x-ray. however, if you have the film that x-rays hit in front of your finger, then we would know!

My way to tell if its a break or not.

If you can bend it and move it (even though there's a lot of pain), it's a sprain.

If you can't even move it, it's a break.

I've severely sprained both of my thumbs and I've broken two fingers before, all because of HS football.

what position? i never broke a finger and i played every sport i could in high school, including football, rugby, & baseball. i did, however, splatter my nose.
