My gf spent the night at my place last night. She commented about the grossness of my sheets (ahem, stickiness :p) and said "you really need to wash these" So even though I was going to wait until friday (when my parents were coming into town, and they take my bed since its the only one), I put them in the wash this morning.

Well last night while I was on the computer her phone rang (which was, when I last saw it, sitting on the dresser next to the bed) and she was talking on it. I guess after she hung up she put it next to her pillow/somewhere on the bed. After some extracurriculur activities and some tossing and turning, we went to sleep, then woke up early this morning so she could go to work and I could study for finals. This morning she emailed me asking me if I had seen her cell phone in the bed. When I went to look for it, it was in the wash, the cycle had just finished..completely hosed, including the red dot bright red.

Should I offer to pay for it? Half?

you put it in the wash, you pay for it, plus you owe her a dinner too.

its not even the money. i'd have a hell of a time replacing all my numbers on it. plus i'd be without a phone for a few days.

oh the nerve to ask whether you can pay half.

or at least some clean sheets. f-ing disgusting

no worries, they are clean now. btw, girls anatomy dictates that girls create more stuff than guys (but then again you wouldn't know). Are you going to really wash them after every session?

ok, more specifically, the sheets had "marks" where previous stickiness had been but evaporated. and yea, its a king size bed, just make sure you dont get the fresh spot

I've seen phones still work after getting fully submerged in water. Have you let it thoroughly dry with the battery out? Does it have a memory card?

ok just got an email reply from her:

subject: death preference? fast and painless..or slow and meaningful?????

Ahh...that poor phone has gotten wet about 5 times. hopefully it will dry out. It's ok, i forgive you. :/

If you could take out the sim card and dry it, which I'm sure you've already done. Hopefully I can save my numbers.

Is the phone still under warranty?

After drying out everything (oven in a very low heat), will anything come on?

Take it the the cell vendors store, they may be able to recover info.

And YES, you washed the sheets with the phone in it; you replace it.

The issue on why the phone was on the bed does not come into play; you both were in the bed rolling around.
