Time to stop posting on ATOT and head for the basement!!

I'm already in a basement (sadly not living with my parents, but in a basement apartment).

I see you forsaw this event. Oh wise one, please tell me the winning lottery numbers! and don't try to pass me past winning numbers ok.

lol, usually when the tornado sirens go off where I live I just go outside and watch the show. I love being outside in storms with the wind howling and the lightning going so often there is hardly ever a break and the thunder rumbling on without stop. Never actually seen any tornadoes, usually just a bad thunderstorm. Really seems silly to go in the basement every time there is a bad storm, you will hear and/or see the tornado comming, so as long as you are near a building your fine.

you've obviously never been in or seen a tornado

wow, are you psychic or something, I say I've never seen a Tornado and somehow you deduce that I have never seen a tornado before? You should be a professional psychic! All I'm saying is that I hear tornado sirens ever summer and yet no tornadoes ever come. Obviously its not the smartest idea to run outside and watch the show, but at the same time, tornadoes only show up like .001% of the time a siren goes off.

They're saying they've spotted a 1/4 mile wide tornado a little west of Junction City, moving along I-70.

It's getting bad here. Lightning like crazy, and the storm is on a direct path towards Manhattan. They said it should be here in less than 10 minutes, they don't know if it's an actual tornado right now or not. It's moving about 48mph.

Ok, they just confirmed a tornado 8 miles southwest of Manhattan heading this direction. Not cool.

And yes, in the even that you're worried, I am in a basement, and will be getting into a safer place in just a moment. Hopefully everyone else in the area is doing the same.

The city (Manhattan, KS) where darkswordsman17 lives just got hit by a tornado. Not sure if he will be posting the rest of the night.

Who else here lives in Manhattan? I'm living here for the summer b/c of a internship on Fort Riley. Still new to this whole tornado thing...starting to get on my nerves.

I live in Topeka, ~60 miles east of Manhattan.

Tornado season is almost over.

I'm a few miles south of Manhattan and luckily we didn't get anything. I heard Fiedler on campus got hit pretty hard as well. Will have to check out the damage tomorrow before class.

When I was doing tech support for RR I had a lady call in during a florida tornado about her internet. So, even though I told her the entire grid was out basically because of this tornado she wanted to troubleshoot...

So of course, I have too. Well mid troubleshooting I hear *craccckkkkk* "oh fuck fuck fuck* "bam phone drop' "Honey the roof came off get to the basement "stomp stomp stomp" "howling wind"

I just sat and listened for like 4minutes till the phone finally cut out. Never know if she made it or not.

Just got power back a little while ago (it woke me up). It was a bit interesting. I live right near campus, just across the street from East Stadium (about two blocks from the engineering complex that got hit pretty good apparently). We didn't get much here, it knocked over part of the fence between our parking lot and the neighboring one, and that seems to be about the extent of the damage in the immediate area.

I was listening to the news and had the window open, and then I heard the tell-tell train sound, looked out and saw things start to swirl around out there, and then got away from the window. Then everything flashed blue several times as it hit the power transformers or whatever.

It got ridiculous afterwards. There were a ton of people driving around. Supposedly people tried looting the car lot that got hit bad. The idiots choked up the streets so that emergency vehicles had trouble getting where they need to.

We were without power for several hours (8 or so maybe?), which I guess is karma since we hadn't lost power during the bad ice storm this last winter. I'm not complaining though. Kinda wish I'd left my camera shooting video of it, but oh well.

They're saying Chapman got hit hard (supposedly as high as 80% damage to the town) by a 1/2mile wide tornado.

One of my co-workers on Riley recieved some pics from a friend who lives/lived in chapman. From the pictures it looks like the town has been beaten up pretty well.

I live east of Aggieville so I didn't get much at all, just the rain.
