Uh-oh, tornado sirens.

The tornado sirens just started going off, its raining heavily and the wind is blowing pretty good. Power hasn't blinked yet, and I haven't really heard thunder or seen lightning.

It was just about 3-4 days ago that the airport and other parts got hit by baseball-softball sized hail (we got maybe marble size right around where I live).

Usually the bad weather misses us, and continues right down the interstate to Topeka.

Here's the weather.com map:

:camera:'s ?

if you could get one where you're flying through the air alongside random debris like lumber, a pickup truck and a cow that would be great

I'm already in a basement (sadly not living with my parents, but in a basement apartment).

Because you're living *under* your parents ;)

The sirens had gone silent but they're back on now. Still heavy rain, wind died down some, and we're now getting some lightning and thunder, and a bit of hail. I'm watching the news and it said there is report of a funnel 11 miles south of here. They were worried, because the way the wind was going it was creating a large circular effect that would have been right over manhattan.

The hail looks to be about marble sized. The wind has picked back up, and it is REALLY raining.

Ok, the hail is getting bigger. Its about half golf-ball sized at the moment. Good thing our landlord replaced the windows in the building a couple of years back.

Things have died down a bit again, still a lot of rain, but seems to be mostly calmed down otherwise. There's another fairly large storm right behind this one, although I think it will probably miss us to the south.

Yeah, they showed the radar, and there were two sections meeting and starting to swirl, and that area was larger than Manhattan. In that outbreak towards the end of May, apparently Greensburg almost got hit by a couple of different tornadoes, one of them pretty good sized.

Even the rain has mostly calmed down for the moment. I think its a break between the two storms (the kinda nice thing is that they both seem to be pretty fast moving so they aren't sticking around too long). I think I'm going to make a quick run to the store, I'll take my digicam in case there's anything worth taking pictures of (doubtful).

Ok, gonna wait a bit to let it pass as it started raining a ton again. Man, this chain of storms reaches from a little south and to the west of Oklahoma City almost all the up to Lincoln (although a bit to the east of it). I mean the severe part, as it actually goes even farther north (all the way up to Sioux City).

lol, usually when the tornado sirens go off where I live I just go outside and watch the show. I love being outside in storms with the wind howling and the lightning going so often there is hardly ever a break and the thunder rumbling on without stop. Never actually seen any tornadoes, usually just a bad thunderstorm. Really seems silly to go in the basement every time there is a bad storm, you will hear and/or see the tornado comming, so as long as you are near a building your fine.

No kidding. They can appear in seconds with little warning.

Although I too love to check out the storms and mistakenly believe I can out run them.
