thank goodness my school/1st period teacher didn't care.

she only gave me a detention once, when I was tardy 13 times IN A ROW! i'm now late about once/week, the teacher doesn't care as long as you get there with in 5-10 minutes of the start of the day

lame school, bring the cash to the court room, and plenty of it. Otherwise they'll have you doing community service for like $5/hr for the fine amount!!

get a lawyer :)

You didn't know you had tardies? I would think you'd have noticed if you were late.

Try and make it a priority to make it to school on time in the future. A few minutes isn't worth having to shell out $200+/- to pay for your crimes. It's so much easier to just arrive a minute early.

I'm looking here. Can't seem to find anything about fines.

I see that they still have corporal punishment though!!!! I am almost certain that this was made illegal. Anybody know if schools can still physically punish students?

Here's the section talking about truencies. I see where they can make you go to court.

My beef is that they throw truencies and and abscenses in the same section. Showing up 3 minutes late is far different than not showing up at all.

Court doesn't surprise me. In washington we have a law that is similar, forget the name of it, might be called becca law. Anyways, I can understand where the school is coming from, you are essentially breaking the law. It is required by the law you attend high school, after a certain amount of tardies or absences you can get in trouble with the law if the school has tried to fix the problem with no result. In this case, I feel like we're missing a piece of the story.

I'm tardy to 1st period EVERYDAY, none cares. I got a A E E first period sometimes I get bitched at by the hall monitor (football coach) and I have to call my mom for excuse.

<<In this case, I feel like we're missing a piece of the story. >>

i've told you all my story. i know the tardies were my fault, but i am only human and cant follow all my tardies for a semester. thats why they should of called me in at 6, they failed on their policy. thats where i am trying to hit them at with this so hopefully they will drop the charge. last year, the tardy policy was:
8 Tardies - 30 minutes of evening school
9 Tardies - 1 hr of evening school
10 - 2 hrs of evening school
11 - 2 1/2 hrs evening school
12 through 17 - OCS (on campus suspension)
18 - Court date
and these were per 6 weeks

now the policy is 8 tardies - court date...nothing else, just court and you can only have 8 tardies per semister, not 6 weeks

(6 weeks is our grading peroid...6 6 weeks in a school year)

That is a pretty tough set of rules there!![/i]!![/i] I am on the phone right now with a lawyer friend of mine, he is good at getting folks off and will probably have some good advice for you --

Johnny said - if the rule's too strict, they cannot convict !! :D

Jesus H. Christmas. $200 fine for being late to school??? Junior year I was teacher's aid first period.. That meant showing up before the 2nd period bell to that teacher. Senior year, first period physics. That meant showing up before the attendance book was put away (about 10 minutes into class because she did attendance after the morning announcements). If either of those two teachers were strict I prolly would have amassed a few grand in fines every year. Never could seem to make it to school on time when I was driving myself.

Install TARDIS 2000 on your computer! It will keep your clock synchronised with the atomic clock server automatically. It will eliminate your tardiness! :p

Cheers!

Edited out :)

Sorry. I get a bit out of control when I hear crappy high school stuff. Used to really hate my school.

You know it was a joke, right?

<< This is freakin' retarded. I'd so bomb a high school like that. >>

Even if this is a joke it's a completely unacceptable comment and I'd suggest you edit it out immediately.
