Uh-oh...problem w/school and tardies

I recieved a call today saying that I have a court date for tardies. They said I have 8. Usually when you get those tardies are have 6, they will call you to the office or send a letter home. I did not get any of those. They didn't tell me about the court date or my tardies until today. Do you think there is anything to do about this or am I just screwed? Its school policy, i am almost 100% sure, for them to call you down at 6 tardies.

My school is retarded. And, I didnt really want anyone to feel sorry for me...They are sending me to court because, well, I really dont know. Its just some policy they have. Bah on my school.

COURT?!?!?! Holy cow. Make it a priority to get to school on time, my friend. In the second half of my senior year of HS, I did lose a letter grade in my 1st and 2nd period classes because of 15 tardies each, but I realized that it wasn't very important at that time. Going to court is a different story...

They used to send us to evening school (where you had to stay 2 1/2 hrs after school for them). Now, they changed that this year for some odd reason.

If they would of told me how many tardies I was getting then I could of stopped being tardy, but no one informed me that I had 8+. Oh, look at this, I just got a letter from the school about 5 minutes ago saying I had 9 tardies. I know I was getting tardies, but I didnt know that many...lol

see that is why i didnt come to do my HS in the US. I couldnt stay in when bars of iron fence me in. The last I had that was in Kindergarten.

Ahhhh. High school. The one place where being a kiss ass will get you EVERYWHERE.

My senior year I had one independent study (that I actually showed up for twice a week), one hour of study hall, and two hours where I ran the student store for my busniess class. I had 4 classes that I actually had to attend.

One of my student store shifts was first hour, that meant getting there at about 15 minutes after the bell, flipping on the radio, and having some rice krispy treats for breakfast

With my school if we had 3 tardies then that'd turn into 1 day of an unexcused absence. If we had 8 (I think) unexcused abences in one semester then we'd have to retake that semester.

Yes, court with a real judge...I am going to have to stand in front of him and hes going to give me time to explain, blah, blah, blah and hes going to fine me some money, probally around $200.

my mom is pretty angry...she talked to me about it and right now, I have no phone privlidages. As long as she dosent touch the computer, its all good. She can take my freedom, but not my computer! lol

WTF??? Getting money based sanctions for being tardy to a high school class? Do you go to a private school? I would like to see the laws or handbook policies that this is based off of.

Public school in Texas. And what makes the fine worse is that the latest I have been to class is probally around 5 minutes. Class hasnt even started by then. Usually, I am in class about 1 minute after the bell, right when the teacher is in too.

Court? WTF? - I only remember signing forms to help my parents out that would excuse them ...and maybe an occasional saturday school several years ago.

I'd look into your highschools handbook and see what the rules are for being tardy. Specifically look to see if there are any money based disciplinary actions. I am still amazed that you are being fined for being tardy to a public high school.
