MY Seagate Barracuda 20.4 has started making a rather high pitched whine. Sounds as tho it's starting to come close to the end of it's life. Anyone else have their barracuda do this before it died?

Darn, I thought this was going to be yet another "my 75GXP died" thread. 😉 Back up your data, and RMA the drive for a noise issue.

Yeah the odds would have been on your side🙂

Did the diagnostics. Said everything was ok. It took much longer to do it then it did my quantum LM raid setup. Not sure what to think about that.
Still, the noise is new and hasn't gone away yet.

Well, I got in touch with customer service (dis-service sometimes). They recommended that I run the diagnotics, which I had already done and the representative said that "noise alone cannot warrant an RMA." Well. I will call back later today and try that again...or take some steel wool and rub it over the exposed parts whiles it's on. Warrant that!!
I was kinda surprised by her response to me.
