<< Ditto for the re-vote if they allege ballot confusion. >>

Chess9,

Apparently they do not possess the slime-factor necessary to be willing to embarrass themselves by revealing that level of stupidity.

It is nice, however, to see that you are less of a hypocrite than many others here.

How revealing!

ACCORDING TO A NEW NEWSWEEK POLL taken on Thursday and Friday, 72 percent of adults feel that making certain the count is fair and accurate is more important than getting matters resolved as quickly as possible.

source

Of course Bush prefers the shortcut to victory via the courts.

Bush has won nothing so far.

Get over it!

Russ:

Tilley Fowler, Duval County Republican just appeared on CNN and made a complete fool of herself. They didn't have the butterfly ballot, and like Bush saying everyone electrocuted in Texas was guilty, she said all the loose chads came off during the machine recount in Duval County. What a complete moron! Do the Republicans in Jacsonville, Fl. not have anyone with a brain up there who can run for Congress? Where do your people come up with such incredibly vapid arguments and politicians?

I am appalled, but thankful the opposition is so bloody stupid.

>>>The idea of a re-vote is stupid beyond description because it would set a precedent that would destroy the election process for all time to come.<<<

Are you that naive to think that an election is a chance for you to exercise your right to voice your opinion as a citizen of a democratic society?

IMHO, an election is a popularity contest show, because the politician promises you everything that you want to hear, just so they could get your vote, but they often don?t act upon it when in office.

A president (goverment body) is supposedly make national decision to look out for the people interest, but in reality they will do anything just to get the vote.

Just look at what Hilary Clinton have done so she could get to office, and voting for a dead man shown that the system is being abuse and to amuses the people. And, now they are suing each other to see who can sit in the big chair. (An election is more like a pecking order of a bunch of little children when they are trying to play with each other)

Gore's strategy is to keep things up in the air so that Florida's not a factor on December 18th when the E.C. votes are officially cast. He is trying to take Florida out of the equation.

BTW good point, Russ. I am having trouble hearing all of the Democrats who want a revote based on these 26,000 invalidated votes. Maybe I need a hearing aid.

...are complete idiots then. Do they not realize dragging this on too long could destroy the country? And wasn't polling a good part of the reason we're in the mess to begin with??????

I watched it also. Makes you wonder about Republicans. How many times will we hear how the democrats are desperate, when the real evedense of desperation are the republican spineisters trying to justify Bush's hypocritic rush to the courts seeking relief on constitutional merits.

What happened to states rights? What happened to allowing the state of Florida do its job under Florida law? The republicans were there at the same time as the dems when the voting commissioners voted on allowing the manual re count. They had the oppurtunity to voice there concern and prevent it then. Are they just as enept as Tilly? I think so.

1st Bush--READ MY LIPS--NO NEW TAXES

Next Bush--I TRUST THE PEOPLE

Two friggin liers inthe same political family.

Bush lost the American public backing the morning of November 11,2000 when he filed a lawsuit in federal court to overturn an election process in the stae of Florida.

Pathetic and desperate. I love seeing you guys squirm!

Everyone now, repeat after me:

President George W. Bush. You might as well start practicing now. Bore lost.

He's like a dead guy who is refusing to climb in to his coffin. BTW, the nails for that coffin are on the way from our service men and women.

By the way, kudos to Red, who essentially called this race correctly. The American people have vindicated his view that neither candidate is much better than a bucket of warm spit. (I find Gore warm spit, Bush cold spit.)

I think we should all give Red a pat on the back for being right, even if it was only once! :p

Make that three for three Chess9.

The voter turnout has been very high showing that many people are interested in this election and the candidates. It is amazing that it has come out so close but that does not show disinterst in the election.

You know, I have now lost all respect for the democratic party. If Bore had his way he'd have re-count after re-count until he won.

As a kid we'd call him a sore loser. I now have no respect for that dink at all.

If all this mess keeps up the republican party won't be far behind. I'm sick of the whole mess. give it up for God's sake and concede to GW.

How about a nice clean boxing match? I would pick Bush to win that one cuz I've seen that lame football clip of Gore and he moves around like he's got a thin cylindrial object up his rectum.

That would mean that he had more votes than Bush, which is not what is being said right now. Thus the purpose of a re-count.

Fathom5,

It's not so much the democrat party, it's the people in it. Hmmmm....same difference?

But I do agree they're just hurting their party with these tactics. Of course, the media isn't helping any including such left-wing sources as NBC who had a doomsday economist pundit on the other day.

Looks like the only groups to benefit from this are the corporate media honchos and Florida state lawyers.

Red,

I'm not completely certain a direct, all-encompassing popular vote will work. Take a group of 10 hyperactive first-graders and offer them candy. All 10 will vote "YES, GIMME!!!!!". Only their parents know how dangerous candy is for them.

Sure, only adults vote but apparently quite a few adults in a certain county in FL couldn't figure out the instructions on their one-page federal ballot. For 30 years Japan tried in vain to design understandable VCRs and remote controls for these people and they have utterly failed.

No, I don't see how we can entrust the Populous At Large with the Final Vote until will jump-start our educational system and even then I wonder...

I personally no longer care. I'm 18, this is the first time I've ever voted, and everyone everywhere has FVCKED IT UP! I don't like the hand recounts, but they are within Gore's legal right to request and that is his prerogative, and as such I must concede his right to demand them. I do not believe that they will change the election outcome. I also believe than any judge in his right mind would take one look at the Palm Beach ballots and laugh the case out of court. At the very least the judge ought to recognise that the Judicial system does not have the right to determine the President, which is what that would effectively ammount to. If Gore wins by the official vote tally, he is President. If Bush wins by the official vote tally, he is President. If EITHER wins by court order, the entire country is fvcked, and I'm moving to England as soon as it becomes practicable for me to do so.

IF he's sworn in he'll be President. So quit making Snide and demeaning comments. It's getting tiresome.

I look at the FL situation as the first true test of our next Prez. So far, even though I didn't vote for either, Bush is looking admirable while Gore is looking greedy and vain.

This is how your next prez. will handle america, especially in a crisis-situation. Those who voted for either Bore or Shrub: how are you feeling 'bout that decision now?

<< << In another area, heavily Republican Duval County, election officials disclosed that about 26,000 ballots were disqualified and never counted on Tuesday because they were marked for more than one presidential candidate, or none at all.

Okay, here's a quiz. How many of you Bore apologists who insist that a re-vote is necessary on your boy's home turf because 19,000 ballots were disqualified based on the SAME criteria, think the same should be done in this case.>>
>>

Russ, Good question....
Perhaps that would have been a good idea....there MIGHT have been some voter confusion in DUVAL county too.....

Actually this revote idea is a tough one for me to swallow. I'm not convinced a revote is required, even though there was a lot of voter confusion in Palm Beach.
