Ugh...Yet ANOTHER iPod Problem

Well today started out pretty badly (toilet clogged, which I still have to plunge, ugh). Well I took my iPod to school today and imagine my surprise when I turned it on and ALL OF MY MUSIC IS GONE! WHAT THE FVCK? Last night I updated some songs, ejected the iPod properly, and this morning all of my music has magically disappeared from my iPod. Furthermore, any program that uses my iPod (EphPod, iTunes, etc) locks up when I try to load my iPod's files. iTunes suggested using the iPod updater to erase the whole ipod. That would be a good idea, except for the face that the updater locks up when I load my iPod. I'm pretty frustrated right now, and I want to get my iPod fixed since I'm going to be vactioning this upcoming Saturday. Any ideas?

This should work, download the HP USB disk formatting utility: http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/hpcpqdt/us/download/20306.html

Install and use it (the default settings work fine, just make sure your ipod is the device selected). After you've done that, uninstall the ipod updater and install it again. Once that's done, hold down the menu and select button until it reboots, quickly (and I mean really quickly, it may take a few tries) hold down the play and menu buttons to go into disk mode. Now connect your ipod. The ipod updater should recognize it, now you can just restore it to it's factory settings.

Hope this helps!

An update: I reformatted my iPod in Windows to FAT32, ran the iPod Updater and everything seems to work fine.
