Smith & Wesson M&P is a very nice pistol.

I also like the Beretta PX4 Storm, but I don't know if it is Ma legal.

Finally, it's hard to go wrong with a Ruger.

It is chambered to accept .45 Long Colt or .410 shotshell.

The problem is it accepts shotshells. If was say a 44 magnum with 44 magnum snakeshot, fine and legal since it is a handgun round. But because .410 is a shotgun shell, and it is is considered a short barreled shotgun (even though the Judge has a rifled barrel), it is still illegal in CA.

EDIT: It might qualify as an assault weapon, as it fires shotshells from a cylinder.

btw, a Springfield handgun is NOT an expensive handgun. Their firearms are among the cheaper of those that are reliable enough for defensive use/daily carry. The mentioned model is about $600 whereas a H&K of the same specs runs about $900.

not true...not all Springfield Armory guns are cheap. Anyone who's ever looked at them will know that.

There is little logic or reason involved, but the argument is that a person doesn't need that capacity in a normal situation so the only reason to have it is to go on some sort of shooting rampage and not having it means they can't. Most of the laws regarding firearms are completely arbitrary and are far more of a hindrance to normal people than those intending to break the law.

Side note: You cannot legally purchase a handgun in any state other than your state of residence, but you can buy any other type of firearm. Considering that you go through the same *federal* background checks and you still have to follow the laws of whatever state the firearm is in the law makes zero sense...but that is firearms law for you.

this is bullshit. how do you think sites like gunbroker, buds guns, etc work? You can walk into a store in another state and buy the gun, you just can't walk out with it. You have to have it shipped to an FFL holder in your state.

Massachusetts sucks balls for many reasons, gun ownership is a big one.

If you are at all serious about gun collecting, you will need to leave that state one day.
I'm not kidding.
