Aren't you the guy who is like $300k in debt? Why are you buying an expensive gun if you don't have any money?

wouldn't legality be the first you think looked at when deciding on a gun you want?

This. Are you sure?

Taking a guess without research, MA might have a 10 round magazine limit or the pistol is not on some kind of safe handgun roster. Same deal in CA.

The way around it here is to private transfer one, usually a LEO sells it to you privately. But then 10 round magazines don't exist unless you block off your own, so having that pistol is a risk.

Seriously. It's a handgun. Why would some handguns be allowed and this one not?

As a side note, the XDM is a nice gun. :)

Ton's of reasons made up by the Brady Campaign. For example, the XD is a "high capacity hand gun!"

That just sound scary! Also, did you know the XD doesn't have a thumb safety? Think of how dangerous that is! Finally, if you remove the magazine, did you know the XD can still fire!!!! Holy shit!

It's the same reason why some states will allow you to have a AR-15 with a fixed mag, but not one with a removable mag, or a shotgun with a pistol grip.

Simply put, they are fucking morons.

Yup. 19 round magazine. Clip is too long.

That's just plain stupid. Out of curiosity, why are there limits on magazine sizes for pistols?

There is little logic or reason involved, but the argument is that a person doesn't need that capacity in a normal situation so the only reason to have it is to go on some sort of shooting rampage and not having it means they can't. Most of the laws regarding firearms are completely arbitrary and are far more of a hindrance to normal people than those intending to break the law.

Side note: You cannot legally purchase a handgun in any state other than your state of residence, but you can buy any other type of firearm. Considering that you go through the same *federal* background checks and you still have to follow the laws of whatever state the firearm is in the law makes zero sense...but that is firearms law for you.

Oh, a law based on assumptions instead of facts, sweet.

Right because im sure that grabbing a few extra clips never occurs to people going on shooting spree's. Gun laws are fucked.

I believe there's some sort of testing for MA where a firearms manufacturer must submit each model of handgun they want licensed in MA, three identical firearms, which will then, at manufacturer's expense, be beaten and abused at a state-authorized testing facility to ensure they meet MA's rules. That is one list. The other list is left, IIRC, to the AG's (Martha fucking Coakley) discretion. To obtain a handgun in MA, in addition to your permit, the weapon needs to be on both separate lists.

btw, a Springfield handgun is NOT an expensive handgun. Their firearms are among the cheaper of those that are reliable enough for defensive use/daily carry. The mentioned model is about $600 whereas a H&K of the same specs runs about $900.
