My friend bought that dlink 704 from that hot deal like a week ago at best buy for 30 bucks...

it seems that his isp logs the MAC address so the router's mac is differnet from the modem..

the SMC router would work because it can clone the mac address but the dlink one can't..

I forgot who's the OEM of who but did dlink release a fix for it ?
 
tried that, it's one of those that you have to register your mac of the modem.. ie they ask for the mac on the box before letting you have access..
 
You CAN clone the MAC with the DLINK 704P, it's under TOOLS in the Dlink conifiguration page of your router. CLONE MAC -> Yes -> Reboot -> Yes -> Renew -> Ip address shows up? Yes... tada.
 
thats weird, its not on the manual... i'm working from remote so it's hard for me to see... i'll check again.. maybe flash the firmware also..
