UGH... Life as a customer service rep sucks balls

So I might just quit my job at this point. The idiocy from certain people I deal with is reaching lows that even I can't tolerate anymore.

For example: The past 5 or 6 months we've been dealing with somebody (who I will refer to as 'Dipshit') who doesn't understand the bill after countless attempts at explaining it from several different people. Well Dipshit gets all huffy because the bill is more than the advertised $19.95 a month price.

Now you'd think any person with a fucking brain would know that certain fees may apply. In fact, it said so right on the contract Dipshit signed and says so on every bill. Even if there weren't monthly fees, most people understand that when you have a new DSL line installed and/or activated there are multiple hardware and installation charges that you must pay off in the first few bills.

Well leave it to Dipshit to be the only person on the fucking planet that doesn't get it. Every month we get a call about the same shit, and every month we explain the charges, and all we hear is:

"You idiots told me it would be exactly $19.95 a month! There aren't supposed to be any extra charges because I signed up for $19.95! You're all a bunch of stupid idiots!"

Honest to god those words were actually spoken. It was like dealing with a god damned child.

Anyway, anybody else sick of their job?

It is ridiculous how phone/internet companies do that where it isn't actually the advertised price.

Yeah, I know it sucks. Nobody likes it but everybody, well... ALMOST everybody, knows it'll cost more than the advertised price.

I get in arguments with people about whether the person they are trying to reach is truly unavailable, at lunch, on another line, or in the bathroom on a daily basis. I want to throw my phone through the window sometimes.

edit: I didn't realize this was a parody. 😕
I am slow today.

My post is a 100% serious. 🙁

I work in retail. I know how you feel.

The most frustrating thing is when customers lose the ability to read. The packaging is in front of them, and all the questions they are asking are answered on it. Sometimes I like to just point to the answer on the packaging.

Hang in there. Some day you won't have to do this anymore and you can just tell stories at the bar. At least you can punch out and forget about it, right?

That's okay. All you have to do is start pretending you're a recording when they start arguing.

"Mr. so and so is out to lunch"
"Bullshit, now transfer me now before I..."
"Thank you for calling the office of Mr. so and so, to repeat this away message press 1"

you'll be golden 😉
