Yeah, Pergo (or some other similar brand like Anderson) is what we were planning on going with. I am not sure that regular hardwood would stand up to a 60lb dog and a couple of kids skittering around.Originally posted by: Carbonyl

Ya the sink in tha pic look wonderful. Deep botton and lipless cost about 600 retail so yes you got a steal. I know what you mean about tile. We used to use bleach and a toothbrush to clean the gruot bu it stunk up the whole house for days and was a PITA to clean it. Then if you break or crack one it's a PITA to relace without breaking others. Great investment IMO Corian is.
Whatever you do don't do Pergo floors. One drop of water will warp it, biggest mistake I ever made was buying into thier marketing. Plus it feels un-natural. I recommend normal oak slotted slats wih about 8 coats of polyurethane. Will lasts forever.
But I didn't know about the water issue. Thanks, I'll have to do some more research.

I'm about to add a granite countertop and undermount sink to my new house too. $3K for 40sqf. Pretty pricey but it's an investment.
Bentwookie, how much did you pay for square foot for your granite?

There's no way I wanted to mess with carrying a 10x2 foot slab around, I was busy remodelling the rest of the kitchen and building a deck..I gladly paid for that install and never plan on doing anything like it. Granite is messy as hell to fab.
It sounds like you got by cheap. Let us know how easy it is to chop vegatables on the counters, once they have been installed.Ugh... Just spent a couple grand on kitchen countertops.
Yeah, right... As if I'll be taking a knife directly to the countertop. 😉Originally posted by: wje

Pergo isn't so bad, you just have to take care of it. The house I bought has Pergo throughout the living room, breakfast nook, kitchen, and Utility room and it looks great. The people I bought the house from had the flooring put in back in 1999 and it still looks brand new. The woman, who was 76, told me how she took care of them and I follow the same procedure. Basically you just fill a bucket 1/2 way with water, then add a few cups of vinegar, mop the Pergo, let it dry, then go over it with a Swiffer.Originally posted by: Carbonyl

Here is the sink and countertops that I ordered. Not positive on the exact color of the counters yet, but that's probably the one (or very close to the one.)
Do you have any idea what kind of TV I could've bought instead?!?! 😉
2 grands on counter tops?
