Ugh - I've stopped breathing in my sleep for the last few nights

Queasy

Moderator<br>Console Gaming
So, I woke up gasping for air and coughing my lungs out last night. I had stopped breathing. Apparently, this has happened for the last few nights according to my wife. I sleep like a log so I rarely know what has occured during sleep (literally, I slept through a car wreck as a kid) so I don't really know how often I've been doing this lately.

The same thing happened to me during college but only when my project loads were so high that I was stressed out. I'm not particularly stressed out right now so I don't know why I would stop breathing in my sleep. But, maybe that's why I've been feeling so tired and generally sh!tty the last couple of weeks.

I had sleep paralysis a few nights ago, where your brain wakes up but you can't move. I think it took about 30 seconds for my body to catch up.

Sucks. Go see a doctor, she's right.

KK

Not anymore than 10lbs. I was probably about 10lbs UNDER-weight when it was happening to me in college. 🙂

One of our members was diagnosed with this months back and now sleeps with this breathing contraption on. Helps alot. He has the same avatar as Thongo above , but I cant remember his name........😀

Sleep Apnea. Fausto does the same thing some times and night and I have to get him to roll over.

Golly gee Skoorbie, I have to do the same thing with Fausto! 😀

I suffer from sleep apnea but have been able to control my symptoms by doing the following:

Using the breathright strips, sleeping on my side and stomach, and ridding my bedroom of any allergians (such as the cat in my case).

Since I started doing the above, my wife has said I've completely stopped snoring and I wake up feeling like I've actually slept.

It's happened to me before too.
Confused the hell out of me the first couple times.

I remember seeing a show on tv where people who got sleep paralysis thought they were abducted by aliens, hehe.

That must be it....I have two cats and they like to jump up on my chest while I'm laying down sleeping. They must be stealing my breath!!!
