Any other college kids NOT want to go home for christmas? I leave this afternoon...its gonna suck. My family is boring, my hometown has nothing to do but deal drugs, I'm working 7-4 almost every day, I'm gonna be stuck on AOL, my good home theater system is up here...I swear if the dorms didn't close, I would just stay here almost the whole time. The only thing that ever got me through living there was my ex...and frankly I don't even wanna remember she exists right now. Ah well....maybe my old friends will actually be around this time, unlike over thanksgiving

yeah, some day you'll look back and realize how much time was lost because of your "home theater system" and "fast internet connection"

Well, family is important, but if the guy wants to stay in the dorm, he should be allowed to, IMHO.

Another stuck-up brat whining about spending time with your family. Remember how "bad" it is to spend time with them when your parents die, mmmmk?

I am not going to my parents house (home away from HOME) until December 22. It will be a short trip since I am working a lot during the break.

maybe you will actually start to enjoy your family's company if you dont have a choice (gasp!!!!). I never think that being at home during the holidays will be much fun, since my friends are always in a different town, but I usually end up bonding with the rents :)

anyway, why don't you read some good books...or catch up on movies that you have been meaning to see? then you can give us some suggestsions. The holidays are always awesome for that kind of stuff....good luck!

I am in similiar place dude, but its not that I don't want to go home and see my family, Its that I don't want to go home straight from finals. A couple of day break would be nice, but alas the rents are getting broadband and I have to go home and help them the minute I get out of exams. But I know what you mean.

Most colleges will let you stay on campus somewhere if you request special permission. Foreign students do this, and if you can make up something good, you might be able to too. :)

I'm also regretting going home, I have so much to do and I have to go see my damn relatives half the country away. Nothing like being in a car with your family for 2 days. It's nice to see the relatives for about 2 hours, then I am so bored. :( No internet and they all sit around and talk. So I wind up watching 100 hours of tv a week and waste some of my life that I could be doing something useful or entertaining.

Oh don't give me that sh!t. I didn't say I hate my family, but god I'm not about to hang out with them 24/7, they are totally different people than me. I love how all you 'old wise' ATers think all us 'brats' are so stuck up and terrible, god shut up and get back with the way the world really is. I don't have to want to hang out with my parents all day for the next 3 weeks to have respect for them.

That was a bit harsh. He didn't say he didn't want to spend time with his family but so what if he doesn't? Big fvcking deal.

yes. how come it always seems that the relatives have the sucky computers, and the sucky internet connections, and are uninformed about computers, etc?

Sucky? How about none? :(
