I don't see what the big deal is. So his connection with this group is through church, big deal. Obviously he is friends with these folks and they are probably concerned about him. What is wrong with that? I have friends who if I miss talking to them for a stretch will come over or call to check up on me. He has some connection to them and just because its through church the OP is making a big deal out of it. If church is not for you, then its not for you. It doesn't make you better, smarter, more or less valuable as a person. I am sure some of you guys are associated with groups who manipulate you as so called friends.
Exactly. That's the logical way to think about it, but for a lot of people, mention "church" and logic goes out the window.
