if you get a girl a present from abercrombie like a nice sweater or shirt (depending on the season), they would be totally happy.

That's b/c most women are money obssessed trendy fashion attention whores :)

the thing is that you will eventually grow up. maybe you can still wear a pair of pants from abercrombie for a few years, but not the jeans that are laced up on the sides, etc. the girls clothes at abercrombie are WAY too trendy and DO NOT last.

i used to be happy with an abercrombie sweater but more likely than not i'd have to return it cuz it's some color that will be UNWEARABLE in a year. or the size is just too small because they think girls are tiny on top.

now my tastes are more towards jcrew and banana republic. and those are NOT cheap places in their own right. it's not that i can't afford the clothes - i really can't but i wait til they are on sale and FIVE DOLLARS OFF is not a sale - their clothes are just too trendy, the girls in there keep getting younger, i walked in over the xmas break and there was a guy standing with just a pair of shorts, abercrombie boxers and a santa hat greeting MOTHERS at the door. it's getting to be too much.

I'm saying that regarding your "afford" comment. I can afford it, but I choose not to. I don't even know what to say really to such an idiotic statement. I guess I don't like Rolls Royce cars either, huh?

I've never been to an Abercrombie & Fitch, Banana Republic, or J Crew store in my life. I think I've been in the Gap once or twice....

Why would you pay that much for clothes that are jsut like any other clothes, but w/ a $25 logo on them?

i hate abercrombie. just a terrible place to get clothes and wear. I was never one to ear clothes with huge names and logos plastered on the front and back. Then again, i really don't care about the brand. Some people care and makes them feel special.

Well, the quality of some of the chain stores are pretty decent. It's part of an azn stereotype that we all shop at BR. This is true for most middle class income folks, especially since BR does get quite affordable when they have sales. Same deal with JCrew + coupons or invitation sales.

Personally, I shop at the Gap on occassion during season's end to pick up a few standard sweaters, pants, or tshirts. Their normal sale prices are still too high for me for the most part. But for some reason they have me as a preferred customer even though all I do is raid the clearance rack for 70-90% off dealys. $10 cotton sweater? I'm so there... $10 pants? yup, being thin pays off.

I always love raiding the dept stores like Macys, Lord & Taylor, Nordstroms, etc for sales & clearances... like its been said, you can get REAL designer stuff for same price as A&F trash. The build quality is better and be more durable than Gap or most chain store stuff. $20 for a nice thick & heavy all cotton Kenneth Cole sweater... retail $85. Run to AF/BR to look for similar sweater on sale? $35-40! :Q

Abercrombie is suk, BR and Gap are way better, people who wear only one type of style are all stupid though.

I love these threads about "fashion" and clothes...I do agree that A&F's quality is actually pretty good, but design-wise, there isn't a whole lot going on...and I'm sure that most of the people on here can afford A&F, it's not exactly expensive...just a little higher than average.

we have the people that will wear anything, and don't care about labels...
we have the people that will wear anything that makes them "cool"...
and then we have the people that have their own "unique" taste, but are hated upon by the others, for some reason.

I love ATOT :)

LOL at the camping frat-boy stuff :)

You won't believe this, but I literally lived with frattiest of frat boys in college, and he worked at the Abercrombie store at South Coast Plaze (socal). It was just ridiculous... he LOVED working there, since he could just totally immerse himself in all their crap clothes at a discount.

I do most of my shopping these days at costco!!! Sometimes they have decent crap for insane prices. I have two Hugo Boss suits for important stuff, and I'd rather not spend much money on my casual clothes. If a chick in a bar actually cares whether or not I have an Abercrombie sweater on or not, I would kick her @ss to the curb anyways ;)

That being said, I'm a J. Crew/BR fanboy for sure. :D For real "clubbing" you need BR shirts....

last 2 times i walked by abercrombie in Galleria, Dallas, they had a dude dressed only in a pair of boxers and a fur coat live-modeling at the door. and teeny bopper girls would all come up and take pictures with him.

I go to Macy's for my clothes. Expensive, but nice looking. I'm only a senior in high school but i think dressing in nice clothes is more comfortable and professional then what most people wear. I'm not obsessed with dressing nice, and button up shirts that some people consider 'dress shirts' go as low as 19$ over at Gap. I know people that look good in Abercrombie clothing, its about the same as American Eagle. Those people would look ridiculous in the clothes I wear because they're the type of person Abercrombie was made for.

As far as asian bashing, I think they're funny. People need to loosen up and not take things so seriously. I mean, the stuff I see these days. Shaq, racist? He's a freakin basketball player. Who cares. You're not the associated press, so stop twisting people's words.

Kohls is where it's at. Lots of sales, brand name clothes, very reasonable prices, and it is neither "trendy" nor "thrifty" ;)

Ya, I agree, and I also like Marshalls for shirts. But I DO also shop at Structure (Express for Men, or whatever they are called this week.)

The quality at A&F is not bad IMO. People buy expensive clothes because......they are expensive! Is the whole I-wear-cool-clothes thing. I just think the T-shirts at A&F have moronic prints (Timmy's pizzeria??). I usually go to BR when they have sales. No point paying MSRP unless I am really desperate for something.

I never understood why people would buy those fake company shirts. Here is an idea: go to a restaurant or wherever and buy your own real company t-shirts! Or rove the racks at a local thrift store - you could find tons of actual small local company shirts there if you took the time to look and had a little luck. And you won't be paying $25 for them, that?s for sure.

And another thing, what is with buying button-down "dress" shirts at the Gap or Old Navy or whatever? I would much rather pick them up at a store like Van Heusen - I absolutely love that place, especially when they have sales :)

I've never even been in an A&F store.

I like Polo... usually I stop in Kaufmanns every once in awhile to see what they have on sale. Last time I got a pair of jeans for $30, usually $69.99. :)

I think its rediculous to see 3rd and 4th graders coming out of the abercrombie kids store decked from head to toe in the "A&F" logo. I didnt care wtf i wore or what i looked like at that age.

EDIT: I just remembered the pair of shorts i bought there this summer on sale. They are the absolute least comfortable item of clothing i have. They were so starchy when i got them that i could stand them up on my floor.

I like Abercrombie, prefer American Eagle though...my favorite clothing company USED to be Structure, I'd say 80% of my non-athletic apparell is from Structure...but in the last year or so they have totally 'gayanized'..thank you very much Express :|
