my observations on this thread...

the guy has a pretty minor set of injuries considering he met up with a fvking POLAR BEAR and WON. Polar bears are extremely aggro, despite their care bear exterior.

I don't think most would be in this good of shape considering the POLAR BEAR came into his tent.

nice game guys though...unfortunately whatever you are thinking how you would have used your 'real' ninja skills and cage fighter instincts; you'd be bear poop now.

Possibly. I haven't seen half of someone's scalp ripped off before so I wouldn't know.
 
For those of you saying his injuries arent that bad... Ill bet it hurt worse than an almost fatal car acident. Jesus christ, i mean... his entire scalp is like ripped in half and split open. Imagine if I came up behind you and cut your scalp up with a knife and ripped on it some so that it was all flappin off. Then stabbed you and gashed you all over. Thats one tough dude thats lucky to be alive. Polar bears are like the meanest things ever.

Most are limited in their views of the external injuries...not only can that bear open you like a can opener, he can maul and pound you like one of those machines that smush cars. Good lord...his interna injuries like spine, arms...bones...there was a pick of his lower leg on another site which the bear bit through is bones... come on you idiots...not that bad... dorks!

 
He's in worse shape than you all think, he's intubated in that one picture. Probably went into shock>>>>>>respitory distress/arrest.
 
I don't think people realize how long a polar bear's teeth are. Those large puncture wounds are probably a good 4-6 inches deep. Which is about 1/3 to 1/2 the way through a normal human.

Remember the chimpanzee that ripped the dudes nuts off, bit his nose and foot off. I bet that dude's injuries where not that bad either.

Also, in the bottom pic, it looks like his face is torn up as well, although the camera angle is pretty bad.

My guess is surgery, looking at the surgeon's hands and all. Scalps do that all the time when people go into/through windshields, it looks REALLY bad but isn't that terrible of an injury. (He will need several hundred stitches to put it back together though.)

Lucky he didn't get a couple of punctured lungs too by the look of some of those wounds. Most are superficial, but some are punctures. Lucky man.
 
Yeah his scalp does look pretty damn thick! I'm guessing given his climate the body adds extra fat there for insulation ?

After this ordeal the hunter approaches a friend: "Hey, it kind of feels like I got a cut on my head- does it look bad?"

Friend (while taking a few steps backwards with jaw hanging): "Uhh... "
