This forum helped me pick out an HLP5063W a few weeks ago for my parents. Wanted to spend $2000 on a high definition big screen TV, with understanding that HD programming would be necessasary to appreciate it. Conversation from 5 minutes ago:

So, did the new TV come in?
Yes.
Did you set it up?
Yes.
How is it?
Very nice.
So do we have an appointment yet for digital?
huh?
When are we getting digital cable?
We're not.
But how are we going to take advantage of the HDTV capabilities that you specifically wanted?
You're only home during the summer, what do you care?
You know we just spent all that extra money on HD and...
I'm hanging up now...

Arrrrrg.....

Relax, they only got it to impress the neighbors, just like the gargantuan SUV.

I think that's only if you have a huge outdoor antenna to receive them over the air. Hope I'm wrong.

id be getting it just for dvds.

Yeah, but to do that the right way you'd need an HD DVD player, and that's not happening.

Quote was "No restrictions on size and we're not looking to spend $5,000 but we want to get something that is very good at a reasonable or better than reasonable price."

Any suggestions? Don't think they'd be into a projector, but I'll keep my options open. I have to be the salesman if it's something I support.

Thanks for the assistance.
Where's the part about them wanting HDTV?

Was stated in conversation. Was assumed it was considered bare minimum in the ATOT crowd ;)
