Having trouble differentiating:

cos^(-1) [1 - (Ax^2)/2]

That's a inverse cosine there...
Can anyone help??

i think he's asking about the arccosine, not the reciprocal of the cosine... in any case, you missed out a cos'=sin term...

If you ever go into engineering... I'm on my 6th semester and I've NEVER encountered a derivative that involved arccos or arcsin.

Shrug.

hmm.. didn't you take your calculus courses? Right now I ahve to freakin deal with arcsin and arccos in ym infinite series math

i would really let Y = that function, and take the cosine of both sides, and differentiate implicitly and then substitute... blah, blah, blah...

i have not encountered an arcTRIG function since i took calculus 4 years ago...
