Here is a brief bio of Randy "The Grandpa" Couture: Couture is a 3x U.S. National Greco-Roman Wrestling Champion, a 2x U.S. National Championship Runner-up, a 2x All-America Oklahoma State Champion, and the 1997 U.S. National Greco-Roman Champion. When you put someone of that caliber up against a very good (in UFC terms) fighter, you will get the same result time and again . And the guy is 40 years old! Tito looked genuinely worried the first time Randy dropped him. Then he looked lost every time they stood up and Randy drove him down at will. Couture is probably the worst nightmare for the UFC: A genuinely nice guy who has nothing but respect for his opponents and then goes to town on their ass. UFC folks were praying that Liddell or Tito would end his run, but as long as Randy stays in this weight class and doesnt go back up to the bruisers at 250 and above, he will continue to ground and pound ayone who they put in front of him.
As an aside, I was watching Techtv's Gametime and they show the UFC tapout games with Tito on the cover. Imagine what the genreal buying public's clamor would be to see Randy Couture on the front cover. Might as well put Tank Abbott on the front of the box.Snoooooozzzze.
I really think that Couture is the best fighter, hell he might even be one of the top conditioned athletes in the world.
THe guy is in such peak physical shape and has such tremendous skills that I think he underwhelms his opponents into thinking that the old man can be beaten rather easily. Oops!

I always said once wrestlers got in the game it would be all over for the strikers. Once they learn some striking skills, learn a few submissions, suddently they are champ material as Randy just displayed.. they just come in, take the guy down, and pound away, game over. I do give props to bjj and other martial arts for taking on more than one opponent where being on the ground is a BIG mistake.
Here is some more info on Randy you might enjoy.
