To be fair, he had just landed in Iceland the day before, and they go and yell at him to come to America the next day?

I'm sure they told him in advance he had this media obligation. It seems like the UFC always gives him what he wants, including this rematch. All he has to do is do what all the other fighters are doing. Granted, he probably does more interviews, but thats how he built himself up. Most of the entertainment from a Connor fight is the pre-fight hype. If he doesnt do any of the media obligations, then Nate shouldnt either. And then Aldo and Edgar too. For most fighters it doesnt matter what they say before or after a fight, but Connor, and to a lesser extent Nate, are unique because they are entertaining. I'm sure he understands that, and I wonder if this was really just him throwing a temper tantrum and it backfired, and this is just his way of backing down. I'm siding with the UFC on this one. If he really thought the media stuff was a factor, he should have negotiated that when they drew up the contract for this fight.

Also kinda interesting how that loss really messed with his mind. He went from kicking up his feet and telling all the fighters to their faces he'd take them any time, any place, to needing complete solitude and focus to beat Nate Diaz. lol

It's better that he focus more instead of losing again. I want to see a good fight, who gives a shit about prefight hype. Dana can live without his cash cow giving 1,392 interviews for 1 fight that he really wants to win.

I thought promoting was the reason so much money was made, but hey, what do I know.

It's the reason the UFC makes so much money, not the fighters. McGregor even outright said he was doing promotion as a fighter and it was essentially free, which is likely a much larger reason he didn't want to do it. The UFC can't give in though, as once McGregor can promote himself, every other big fighter will do the same. You think Mayweather has so much because he just fights?

The UFC knows that if they allow this, they can't leverage another reebok type of deal or have anything of that sort.

He loses badly, but still wants to demand a ton of money and/or not fulfill obligations. Pre Diaz fight he claimed he was #1-9 P4P and would hold the belt in 3 different weight classes. Dude quit in the Diaz fight, now he's apparently quitting for good. I'm sure he'll be back. But all that shit he talked for the past 1+ years was just that, shit.

You've never heard of promoting yourself? That's the reason people wanted to watch him, he made you love or hate him. Both feelings = more PPV buys.

The least he could have done was stick to his shtick. I mean Chale talked so much shit about how Anderson was ducking him and how he would beat his ass and take the belt. What happened? Well, he got submitted, but he popped up on ESPN a few days later being interviewed with the fucking MW belt draped across his shoulder. Chale never broke character, Conor cracked with his 1st lose in the UFC, fuck em. He's a quitter, I would love to see him fight @ 200. On the Facebook only pre pre-lims.

UFC 200 Press Conference Nate Diaz vs. ?
It seems Nate doesn't care that Coner is not there to promote the fight, he wants to fight Coner or Nobody in UFC 200.
Nate saying it's Conor or nobody.

If you watch the whole thing, Dana later on says he's obviously working on something big for the main event, but he's not willing to share it yet.

If Diaz fights someone else at ufc 200 and loses, the fight with McGregor loses it's appeal. He'd be much better holding out for the big ppv payday. If it's up to him, that is...

I wonder if Nate's money would be the same if it wasnt Connor. It would most likely be significantly less, considering he only make like $40K for his fight against Johnson and at least $500K, maybe more with incentives, for his fight with Connor. It would be in his best interest to push for Connor. GSP is probably the only other guy which could get Nate similar money.

Rumors are swirling that they're trying to get GSP to fight at 200.

According to McGregor, no one else. I call bullshit.

He couldn't be that stupid. Trying to bully the promotion a second time after faceplanting on the first attempt would be epic. I can't imagine he would do that to his crew, the ufc, or himself.

My guess is that they're just trying to milk the news cycle to further promote mcgregor and ufc 200. Not clicking on another mcgregor story, waste of time.

TMZ is now the most trusted source in news. LOL

Conor McGregor has NOT been added back to the UFC fight card ... this according to UFC honcho Dana White.
TMZ Sports spoke to White this morning ... who tells us, "It's not true. We haven't talked to Conor or his manager since the press conference. I don't know why he would tweet that."
He adds, "All the media keeps asking me that. I feel like the scene in 'Step Brothers' when they ask if they can build the bunk beds. I don't know how many more times I can say the fight is off or how many more press conferences I can have saying the fight is off for people to believe it's off."

McGregor caused a firestorm Monday morning by tweeting, "Happy to announce that I am BACK on UFC 200! Shout out to @danawhite and @lorenzofertitta on getting this one done for the fans. #Respect"
