He wanted more and better testing because he felt too many fighters were on illegal drugs to get an edge.

surprised the state athletics commission don't test every winner of the championship of their weightclass?

also surprised there's no penalty for cocaine! 😱
WTF?!

The problem is low T levels and low T ratio don't prove doping. High T is a very probable sign, though. So, I'd be fine with people getting, at the very least a real medical inquiry, over a "normal" T:E, with severely elevated levels of T. Simply having a low T ratio could be caused by other things other than cycling.

And, even then, there are measures to prevent popping. There are numerous rumors of football players have catheters inserted, their bladder drained, and refilled with clean urine to mask substances.

How do you think someone with high T/E ratios gets low T/E ratios? Kinda hard to use use fake piss if a test comes up unannounced and they watch you piss.

Not that hard. It coming up random means either you're required to travel to a place within a time limit (certainly possible to get a "doctor" to drain and refill you with clean piss) or you are at a place where the test will take place / be escorted straight there, which you could just refill before going there. If you really think random drug screenings are where they show up and say "right now, whip it out and piss in this cup!".

And that is the problem. Random means there is some kind of time between when the person is picked and when they are tested, so there is time to find ways around popping positive. The alternative is scheduled testing, which is just as easy, if not more so, to get around.

And, thinking we are going to eliminate all PEDs from sports is just plain ridiculous.

And, that is only with urine tests, which are the cheapest. If they switched to blood tests, I would imagine it would be much harder to get around, but still possible. There was a murder trial I recall years back where the defendant was a doctor and his DNA didn't match that found at the scene. It was only after some diligence from the sister that she obtained the doctors DNA (stolen) and had it compared on her own that she got the case reexamined and they discovered the doctor had surgically implanted a rubber vein filled with someone else's blood to fool the DNA test. He was able to convince them to not take it from his hands, as he couldn't have open wounds and perform his job (surgery or something) and got it from the arm he put the 'fake' blood in. Was pretty brilliant.

Cocaine should be banned during the sporting event. If a fighter (or player) tests positive right after a fight, assuming they were under the influence during the fight is fine and any stimulant should be viewed as a PED. A month before the fight though? Again, who cares?

Yeah, I agree, plus amphetamines. Stimulants don't stay in your system for more than a few days, too, so false positives aren't as likely.

Um random in the UFC, as of the last few years means, they bring the testing to you.

Or your gym, it turned out really well for this guy when he ran from it at his gym

"During the meeting, the commission’s sample collection agent gave a detailed description of the steps he took to track Silva down in order to collect the required blood and urine samples necessary for a random drug test. He also detailed how after contacting him in person at the Wand Fight Team gym, Silva fled the site."

While, details are scant, it doesn't sound like the collection agent simply showed up at the gym first and Silva ran. Sounds like he was forced, after Silva ducking his messages, to show up in person, upon which Silva ran like an idiot.

never understood the appeal of this ufc, mma bullshit. I feel like we're reverting back to gladiator matches, and I'd like to think we've evolved a little more, sociologically speaking.

K, glad you felt that way and the need to share that here. But I see how you feel because like Gladiator matches people are being killed inside the ring every fight. 🙄

Stay on topic.

I'd pay money to watch actual gladuatoril combat. Just have death row inmates do it.
