So everyone has been disappointed w/ Anderson's last 2 fights b/c he looks unmotivated and clearly outclasses his opponent. Lackluster would be an understatement. Dana White said that he would give Anderson a challenge in his next fight and said he would need to go up in weight. Well... here ya have it. He's taking on former LHW champ Forrest Griffin. Should be an interesting matchup. Silva won't have the reach/size advantage. Forrest lacks KO power but has great leg kicks and brute strength. Who takes it?

This fight will be on the same card with BJ Penn/Florian as the co-main event.

I'll go with a motivated Silva by TKO. I also think Florian is going to upset Penn.

He's training w/ GSP now and I think he's heavily underrated... amazing how far the guy has come.

Ehh, Forrest is the best they can do? Don't get me wrong, I love Forrest, but don't think it's much of a matchup for Silva.

Forrest has a great chin and can take a beating. I think this is finally a good match for Silva. Certainly not an easy KO or a clash of styles. This matchup could be a slugfest going the distance.

At least Forrest is an active fighter. Sound be a more interseting match

I doubt this will be a repeat of Silva vs Leites

unfortunately, I see Forrest getting KOed by Silva

I agree. I still give Silva the advantage, but Forrest is no pushover and he's used to fighting at 205.

Forrest will take Anderson down, but Silva will submit him somewhere in the 3rd round. My guess will be via triangle choke. Forrest won't tap but he will be out.

1st round will have Forrest in trouble in a clinch with Silva though (worst place to be with Silva IMHO) but not get knocked out.

It also depends on which Forrest shows up ... the original brawler comes back I see this ending like the Jardine fight. If the patient/slow Forrest that we have been seeing is in there then it ends as above.

Forrest isn't a pushover with the strikes and is entertaining/balls out style, which I'm a fan of, but he's still outmatched standing up. Don't get me started on the ground.

I'd like to see a technical badass vs technical badass...GSP vs Silva would be a better matchup, if Silva could cut weight to a catchweight like 180. That'd be the fight of the century, hands down. Maybe after Silva takes out Forrest and GSP takes out Alves. I guess White doesn't want Silva just "hanging out" until GSP gets the chance to recover and train.

Agreed, GSP and Silva are head and shoulders over everyone else right now it seems. Neither has had a close fight in a while.

holly shit. that should be a good fight. i wouldnt count the guy out though. nobody gave him a chance against shogun or rampage and he won both.

I agree...this will be a great fight. Silva is my favorite fighter, but it's finally great to see him fight someone that's a challenge. My vote still goes for Silva, though I do think this fight will be pretty rough.

awesome, cant wait for this fight. and then if bisping beats henderson we might see silva/bisping also, making for a couple of good fights lined up for the spider. or at the least, an okay fight but bisping gets the crap kicked out of him.

White said that Silva also expressed an interest in fighting heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko, who is under contract with Affliction. White has made several attempts to sign Emelianenko, none successful.

Soares confirmed that Silva would like a fight with Emelianenko and said that size wouldn?t be an issue. Silva walks around between fights at 215 and Emelianenko fights around 230.

?We?d come in at about 220 if we ever got that fight,? Soares said. ?Anderson thinks that would be a great fight for him. He didn?t say he expected to blow him out, but he thinks he can give him a very good fight.?

oh please let this fight happen one day. im not asking for it tomorrow, nor by the end of the year by please make it happen soon dana!

People are writing off Forrest too easy. Griffin is a HUGE guy, which alone will cause problems for Anderson. Forrest is probably 225 come figh time, Anderson is probably 205. That's quite a bit of weight. That being said, I think Anderson is too technical from the outside with his striking. I can see Forrest trying to tie Silva up though, maybe get him down and try to wear him out.

So rather then bring in good middle weight fighters, they are going to force the champ to move out of his division to get any challenge? Lame!

Silva will win by TKO (strikes). Interesting matchup?I wonder where Dana is going with this line of thinking. It?s not like the 205?s have any shortage of talent. I guess he just wants to give Anderson something else to do considering he won?t be fighting Henderson or Bisping for a while.

Forrest is a very active fighter so this should be a really entertaining fight.
