UFC Demo

Downloaded the demo tonight and I have to say they did a great job of replicating the action that happens in the octagon.

Tutorials were really useful and should be played through since the game has a significant learning curve. Got KO'ed the first couple of times by Chuck, but once I got the hang of things I started to KO him at the end of the first and beginning of the 2nd. Shogun's muy thai clinch is awesome. Still haven't been able to pull off a sub yet though and Chuck's great take down defense isn't helping, although I did finish him once with some brutal GnP.

Anyone give it a try yet?

BTW, I played it on a PS3.

Yep, just tried it... wasn't expecting much. It's actually pretty fun. I may rent the game and give it a good run through. It is difficult at first, as its important to know how to pass guard, go for submissions etc, but once I started learning those things I really started to enjoy it. We will see if it holds my interest though.

yeah i thought it was good. The one thing I didn't like is (maybe im just doing it wrong) when you get a submission "lined up" you have to bash the ever loving shit out of the buttons to get it to actually work, which will get mighty tiring if thats how its done.

is this the best UFC game yet ? I have only played the Dreamcast one and many times I have heard that is the best one. Only thing I didnt like about the DC UFC game was the matches were always way too short.

Does this look like you will be able to have epic multi rd matches ?Or is it like the DC one where a couple of strikes and you are pretty much out ?

I was coming here to post the same thing. I just started to get interested in UFC and have been watching it on TV, and this game (demo) is a TON of fun. The controls are pretty confusing but luckily the demo is very forgiving (the CPU player I mean) so it's still really fun. I'm not really sure what the hell I'm doing when I'm on the ground (trying to do submits) but I'm Liddel and all my wins are from knockouts, mainly from that spin elbow move he does 😀

This version is WAY better.
You can have awesome matches that go back and forth and end in a decision once you know what difficulty level your skills match up with.

is this the best UFC game yet ?
YES

Learning curve is a bit steep, but as said above, this one caught me off guard.
I wasnt expecting much and it turned out to be a GREAT game(demo).

You can change the difficulty in the demo? I didn't see any place to do so, and right now it's way too easy.

Its under options / gameplay.
Put it on expert and that will most definately solve your problem. 😉

Chuck will KYTFO! 🙂

This demo is addictive. Expert is very frustrating though, because nothing I do on the take down and ground game, consistently stops Chuck from escaping, or Shogun from getting a full mount and winning through ground&pound. I spent a good hour just practicing the ground game stuff in the tutorial, but it still doesn't work out well 4x out of 5.

Seems the best chance of winning on expert is just out point and try to survive for 3 rounds. Or get the lucky 1 punch KO I managed twice with-in 10-15 seconds of the fight starting.

The best way I found to defeat Chuck in expert mode is to wear him out with lots of body shot in the early round. By the the time you start the third he will be pretty exhausted and you should be able to knock him down and finish with gnp. I try to mix it up with muy thai knees, punches and kicks while standing, and an occasional take down followed with more body shots. In the third it is important to be very conservative with Shogun in the stand up as he is tired too and is prone to get knocked out if you leave yourself open.

This game is going to be a complete time-vampire for me.
It definitely seems like they put a serious effort into making it quite playable.
And I predict that effort is going to pay off.
The demo is sofa king fun.-- --😀

Yeah, I do better with Shogun, than Chuck. The A.I. control of Shogun ends up with me getting full mounted from a transition, almost every time.

Is it possible to knock out liddell with one punch to the face, just like real life?
I've knocked both out with perfectly timed shots.

Alright, I can't figure it out. How the hell do I actually execute a submission once I start it? They ALWAYS counter. I tried mashing/pressing every button, but can't figure it out.

Been playing this throughout the day... VERY addictive, and good strategic gameplay. Definitely not a button masher, but still accessible. A definitely pick-up at release.

Did you do the tutorials? They tell you there to mash the face buttons to do it, but a submission won't work well on somebody will a lot of stamina. You have to work the body a lot before you try a submission.

I just dl it, great demo. Graphics are really nice and they got the gameplay perfect imo, not too easy where theres only retarded button mashing but also not too hard with cryptic combos. Will definitely look into grabbing it when its released.

Well if you want it to be that realistic, it would have to have a way to make you shit in your pants when you realize you are fighting Chuck Liddell.

There were tutorials?

Thanks man, I'll try that.

I agree that the demo is a lot of fun and pretty addicting. Useful tool I found was to pause the game at various positions and go to the Action menu. It will list all of the strikes and transitions you can do in a given position.

I'm a little worried about the submission game. I was hoping a badly timed strike or shoot would catch someone in a submission. But so far, it seems like the other person has to be tired or injured or else they always break the hold. Plus it was disappointing to see only a few submissions (kneebar, guillotine, armbar, kimura, rnc, and triangle), plus the fact that there is only one submission per position. Yeah, those are the most common, but I hope you have more options when creating a fighter and in career mode.

Stand up is more fun and polished than the ground game, imo. My defense really sucks at stand. Need to keep my hands up.

I tried focusing exclusively on leg kicks for a couple rounds, but didn't see any long term damage. I'm sure there is probably stuff behind the scenes, like affecting stamina and power. I was kinda hoping you would see some limping, more exaggerated reactions when a leg was kicked (like having the leg fly out a little further each time, increasing the recovery time), and eventually slowing down your movement and shooting. But that wasn't really evident in the demo.

Headkicks are too powerful too. Too much reward without a lot of risk.

overall, it's a good game. but I hope were some tweaks to the full version after they created the demo.

Good tip - I didn't notice that before.

I noticed this, too, and it is kind of disappointing. If you spend a round just working over someone's thigh, they should be pretty immobile and worn out.

I have to disagree here. I think there's a lot of risk; if the CPU starts throwing high kicks at me, I just hit up on the RS, take them down, and hammerfirst their head through the other side of the mat.

I went ahead and preordered it from Amazon. Says it should arrive the day it comes out. This is the first game I have bought in a while, hoping it will be an good game to have some guys over to play.
