This should be an interesting matchup! I just heard about it today. Anyone else watching?

He left UFC due to contract disputes but came back to fight lesnar.

Yes, Couture is the heavyweight Champ. If Lesnar wins his FOURTH EVER UFC fight, he will be the new Champ.....That said, I believe Couture will win by submission
 
couture will expose lesnars stand up, dominate all 5 rounds and win. lesnar may gas out early and the fight could be stopped by tko. this is a very exciting fight but honestly, lesnar is too noob and randy is too smart.
 
Lesnar definitely has some heavy hands, and his wrestling is obviously top-notch. I think this will definitely be a better matchup than Couture-Tim Sylvia, but I don't see Lesnar winning this one unless he just catches Randy.

He TRIED to leave the UFC but due to contractual obligations and some behind-the-scenes drama, he had one more fight to go. Lesnar will bring in the money but like most people, I don't think he deserved to get a title shot so quickly. Dana's hoping for 1.2 MILLION PPV buys!!!
 
Coulture is a legend in the sport, maybe the 3rd greatest living fighter period. He will win this fight and in spectacular fashion. If he doesn't I will firmly state the fight was fixed.

No matter how awesome that man with a penis tatoo on his chest is, he is still a MMA fighter with only 4 fights under his belt. That is nowhere near the experience needed to take up the likes of a multiple champion.
 
Randy did a good job of not letting Sylvia get on top of him. If he doesn't do the same with Brock, look for Lesnar to use his weight advantage to smother and wear out Randy. I still think Randy takes it in the 2nd.

Well Couture did sign on for three more fights, not just the two that were remaining on his previous contract. So they couldn't have been twisting his arm that much.

In any case, I think it will be an exciting fight unless Lesnar tards out again and lets Couture get an easy submission.

Wrestlers suck at submissions for the most part. Randy has way more experience but he's old and hasn't fought for a year. Brock is the future of HW's in the UFC - period. Not saying Brock will beat Randy, but it won't be an easy fight for Randy. Randy's bread and butter is Wrestling & Dirty Boxing. Lesnar is a better wrestler and I don't think Randy wants to dirty box with Brock, being in Brock's clinch might end badly for the legend 🙂

Brock has the size, speed, strength & age advantage. Dunno if it'll be enough to overcome Randy's experience. But it should be a good fight, well interesting at least. Brock would be a difficult fight for anyone, I hope Randy tests his chin because that's the one question mark I have about him.

Anyone who thinks this is gonna be a walk in the park for Randy is crazy. He showed well against Mir, and broke Heaths orbital bone with a single blow. And made the first dude he fought tap from strikes. He's a scary mo fo 🙂

and to bapace this is only Lesnars 3rd UFC fight his first MMA fight wasn't in UFC.
 
It'll be interesting to see what Randy tries to do. Lesnar has a big reach advantage, not to mention he essentially has lunch pails for hands. A semisolid shot from one of those sledgehammers and it can change the fight

It is more of a statement to Brock's inexperience than anything. I think he will get caught by a submission. Randy knows enough to submit a significantly less experienced fighter.

Agreed on the huge hands. That said, I don't think he will win but who knows, he just needs an opening imo.

Randy is a Wrestler not a submission fighter. Mir is a BJJ black belt and SICK with the submissions. That was Brocks 2nd fight and Mir still had a hard time submitting him. Since then Brock has been training BJJ and I'd gather has even better sub defense than he did against Mir. Randy might win, but it won't be by submission if he does

as for Brocks hands, UFC had to make special sized XXXXL gloves just for him, that's pretty crazy lol.
 
Couture is getting old, and hasn't fought in a long time. Lesnar is going to have a big weight advantage and brings in great wrestling skills, physical strength and good conditioning for his size. He is quite fast for a big guy as well.

Couture is going to have a really tough time getting Lesnar down if his game plan is ground and pound, striking he should have the advantage, but Lesnar should be able to take Couture down. However, Couture will definitely capitalize on any mistakes Lesnar makes, not sure if Lesnar has enough experience for that to happen the other way around.

Gonna be a good match. If I had to pick I'd say Lesnar win by TKO.

EDIT: But yea, shitty undercard.. they really stacked the December/Jan cards.

Brock has great experience all things considered, he handed Heath his ass, and Heath has fought some of the best in the world. Brock is a freak of nature and if he learns BJJ he will be unstoppable. *IF* he beats Randy he'll have the belt and will have to fight Big Nog for his next fight. For those 4 to be your first 4 UFC fights, win or loose that's impressive lol.

 
I really wonder if either side's game plan involves utilizing the ground game - both are top-notch wrestlers and are about as wide as they are tall. Both are Collegiate All-Americans, Lesnar won the heavyweight title in 2000...

I hope the fight goes at least 2 rounds.

ROFL. Lesnar gas out? You do realize he's a collegiate NCAA championship wrestler w/ a cardio program probably only rivaled by Sean Sherk's, right? Randy has more of a chance of gassing than Brock does. (And even though he's old, Randy has a very good cardio program)

Randy's gameplan this fight - keep it standing like you said. No one really knows how good Lesnar's standup is, or how his chin will take a punch. If Lesnar gets Randy to the ground, Randy is going to lose. Even though Randy is a Greco Roman wrestler, Brock should easily get him to the ground at will. You can say "well Randy has fought Tim Sylvia, blah blah", but none of them have Brock's insane strength and explosive quickness. He moves like a guy that weighs 100lbs less.

I hate to sound like a Brock fanboi, but the only way Brock is going to lose this fight is if Brock wants to lose, IE, keep it standing or just do something stupid like he did with Mir.
