UFC 86: Rampage Jackson vs. Forrest Griffin

un effing believeable. i was checking the blow by blow on cagepotato, damn i can't believe it. oh well, stranger things have happened. OP, you got your wish....

I was following the scoring on Yahoo Sports. The fight is over as they had recaps of all five rounds, and the authors' scorings. Looks like it is really close, Forrest may have won, if not it should be at least a draw. He kicked the crap out of Rampage's leg, which really hobbled him it seems.

Weird, but now they only show 3 rounds of recaps ...

Woo hoo !

Sounds like FG fought a very smart fight. I thought his only chance was to avoid a standup fight/brawl as he doesn't have the punching power that Jackson does.

I wonder if Rampage will finally shut his yap and acknowledge FG's abilities ? I was getting real sick of him dissing FG. Of course, the press is the same way ... they're calling it an "upset" already. When you win by unanimous decision, and by 2-3 points on each card, it's hardly an upset IMHO.

Jackson was favored to win the fight, so it was an upset. That's the definition of "upset."

That was a bunch of bullshit. WTF was up with that? Page totally won!!!

I honestly think that it could have gone either way. Forrest did some damage in the 2nd round and Rampage came back in the third and got some good shots. The last round I think was pretty even with Forrest getting some better shots

If rampage could have avoided all those damn leg kicks he might have swung the judges. But him stumbling around like that... man he looked out of shape. Forest looked really good, he's fast for a HW.

Jackson won the fight. Forrest may have the belt, but Jackson won that fight. I even gave Forrest round 2 10-8. Guess that's 2 "decisions" that Griffin has won now. I was talking with my buddy during the fight that traditionally, you have to convincingly beat the champion to get the belt if it goes to a decision. If it's close, it usually goes to the champ. I had a sneaky suspicion that given Griffin's popularity, that he would end up winning the belt, even though I had Rampage ahead on the cards. Oh well, that's what happens when you leave it in the Judges hands'; it becomes a popularity contest.

Finishing fights ftw

forest won that hands down. for the life of me i cant understand why he gave up that triangle though. he had rampages leg and everything, was just a matter of time? or was something else going on there that i didnt notice.

Not sure, but isn't that when Rampage picked him up and kinda slammed him? I think he had no choice but to let go.

Yeah... I think he could've held on through the slam but it would've hurt a lot more, so he chose to take less damage.

I heard (it was either Joe Rogan talking or my brother talking) that Rampage likes to slam people when they have him in a triangle.

I'm sure you know how to keep scores more than the 3 judges..

he had one of rampages legs held so that rampage couldnt lift him to slam, but for some reason it looks like he let go to do something else and thats when rampage lifted him up. if he had just held on and squeezed im thinking the fight would have been over right then and there. possibly he was holding the wrong leg? but i think there was still enough pressure to put rampage out. after forest let go it was obvious rampage was affected by the triangle choke.

What makes the judges right? They judge fights horribly all the time.

I don't really agree with the have to beat the champion convincingly, if you win, you win.
