UFC 171: Hendricks vs. Lawler for GSP's abandoned title (3/15)

No GSP, nobody cares? I'm not watching, actually. 😀

Subject should say disputed title instead of abandoned.
 
actually that was a hell of a fight.

hendricks won it in round 3. that is uynless the judges are idiots
 
Robbie was so close. Really wanted big rig to get KOd

not surprised with decision. Robbie gave up on that last take down. He didnt even try to square up.

Robbie had it to lose. Big Rig had a better chin than I gave him credit for. He fought scared and it worked for him. Strange but entertaining fight. Somehow I see Jon Bones and Hendricks being cut from the same cloth. Great physical specimens with serious daddy issues...

his attitude and character from watching the dana white fight vlog from the st. pierre fight did not impress me. one guy who was in his corner was hyping up it was not his fault like he thought hendricks might get rid of him for not pushing him on more during the last round

What were you smoking? Big Rig won 1 and 2 easy. Robbie owned him round 3 and 4 (minus takedown in 4). It was close until Robbie gassed out in the 5th.

Congrats on Big Rig for taking this one home. As much as I respected and liked GSP, his lay on ppl for 5 rounds got to be a bit boring. His fight with Hendricks was the most exciting thing we've seen in a while from him.
 
I thought Lawler won 1, 3 and 4, but round 1 was a coin flip. After watching Hendricks against GSP and this fight, I think he might have a big problem with Rory MacDonald, should they fight. I think MacDonald's jab is going to pick him apart, but Hendricks is improving with each fight. Those leg kicks was definitely the difference in the fight.

Yeah, this is exactly how I saw it too. I actually thought Robbie was winning the fifth until he gassed.

Awesome fight, and good decision.
 
On Sherdog someone posted a few baby pics of Hendricks, of course the 'Shop followed within minutes.

that was a great 5 rounder. there was tons of action, both fighters had 2 great rounds. The 5th was amazing. Hendricks comes back to win it after 2 rounds of getting his ass kicked.

it was 2 fighters giving it everything they had.
 
what do you guys think about having no breaks and instead having one big round. like gsp thought would be a good idea.

also tell me what you think about knees and kicks and stomps to the head of a grounded fighter or headbutts.

and what about bare fists

bare fist would be silly and the "just bleed" fan wouldn't like it. The gloves are not there to protect teh guy getting punched. it's there to try to reduce the risk of a broken hand.

I'm all for knees and soccer kicks. headbutts? no thanks.

i would also like to see 1 round instead of having breaks. maybe a 10 minute round?

have watched quite a bit of pride including full shows

one thing i can tell you is that there were never any problems with the rules. the only problems had to do with corruption.

pride had a 10 minute first round and 2 5 minute rounds after that. taht worked although i am not sure why they did not just make the 2nd round the 10 minute round.

pride had no headbutts although ifc did. that is where wanderlei got his start at mma

Yeah I watched it the day after. After the second I started to FF. I guess i wasn't in the mood for a grind.
