UFC 160 Sat 5-25-2013

yeah i dont see bigfoot winning.
the only reason he won vs overeem was that overeem was being overconfident/stupid

The -only- thing I want is for Mark Hunt to win on Saturday.

He is the underdog for a reason but dammit, I can dream can't I?

Oh, and Cain wins via Murder. Again.

Yeah that would do it, overconfidence/stupidity are the best way to lose, hope he learns this time.

The first fight ended and Cain was literally red, head to toe in Silva's blood.

Yep, this.

It wasn't the bloodiest fight I've seen in MMA but it was crazy because it happened so fast.

Most of the really bloody fights are at least go a couple of rounds...like Penn/Stevenson or Hieron/Goulet.

I have a feeling JDS will become a BJJ master for the fight. Hunt sucks on the ground, and I'm REALLY doubtful JDS will stand toe to toe with him, although I HOPE he does. 🙂 That's really the main fight for me.

yeah Cain without a doubt. I like bigfoot and think he is a great fighter. but he just is not on Cain's level.

I suspect JDS wins. but hell hunt just needs that 1 punch.

Well... Who you all got for the rest of the main card? (My picks are in bold.)

Velasquez vs Silva - Round 1 TKO
Dos Santos vs Hunt - Unanimous Decision
Teixeira vs Te Huna - Round 2 KO
Maynard vs Grant - Split Decision
Cerrone vs Noons - Unanimous Decision

I'm pretty weary of the Maynard pick... Grant could definitely pull the upset. As a matter of fact, I think I'll change that. 😉

I watch 99.9% UFC events and I have to admit...I'm pretty damn excited for this one.

I'm with you on all the main card picks, Wingznut. I think/hope Grant gets the upset.

Hunt's timing is almost spidey sense good. He compensates for what the opponent does, while putting the punch exactly where it needs to be. He does it so that they are moving in to the power counter too, making his heavy hands seem even heavier.

I could definitely see JDS getting caught and dropped. He has a tendency to get cracked during exchanges, and against Hunt there will be no recovery IMO. If he shoots the TD early and often, and gets it, he probably gets a W. If Hunt stuffs them or gets back up quickly, by the 3rd it will be who gasses out the worst. Presuming neither lands a bomb. I really like Hunt's chances in this match up. I'll take this one as my upset of the night, fight.

I think Gray grinds out the W. Noons boxing is very good. If he dictates the range and does not stay at the end of Cowboy's kicks, I think he will be able to get the stoppage. If it hits the mat though, Cowboy has a distinct advantage.

Bigfoot would be best served to try to fight long. I think Cain's work rate is just too much for him though.

That GIF is from Pride. It was legal there in Japan.

I would assume it would be OK in the UFC, too. The rule bans knees/kicks to the head of a downed opponent... nothing about butts. 🙂

I don't understand why no one ever does knees to the ribs when they are on top.

so 1st fight is with a boxer/kickboxer vs striker/submission.
there doesnt seem to be any evidence that the kickboxer knows what to do on the ground.
so why doesnt the opponent take it to the ground?
