Not really. I don't make threads months in advance. I'm more than a casual fan, but I don't spend all of my free time devoted to arguing about it. I like seeing technical and beatdown fights alike, which is what's so awesome about MMA.

Yes, that is true. But you have to remember this isn't a sports league, the UFC doesn't always put on fights between the best. They put on fights based on what SELLS ( Kimbo, Brock Lesnar, James Toney ).

Anderson Silva vs Vitor is a HUGE, BLOCKBUSTER fight. One of the best strikers and probably the FASTEST mma striker against the undefeated middleweight champion. That is a HUGE, HUGE $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ fight.

That's what counts at the end for Zuffa.

And personally, I'd rather see Vitor vs Anderson rather than Anderson vs anyone else in 185, even if they are more qualified / have beaten more 185 guys. It's just a near Shogun/Machida-esque level of epicness. JDS/Cain is also on that level of epicness. Vitor may be the ONLY 185 guy that can embarass the shit out of Anderson Silva striking wise. He must be there mentally, though.

I completely understand why the UFC does this and it's one of the issues I have with the UFC. Also, I don't think Vitor isn't a contender I just don't see how he has earned his shot yet. In all honesty Chris Leben has done more to justify a title shot than Vitor has.

btw I am very much looking forward to Vitor vs Silva. I don't think either man can take each other lightly or they'll be going night night. Should be a blockbuster.

We all have our disagreements with Woosta but I don't think there is any way to interpret the posting of this thread in november as some sort of chest-pumping "I posted it first" thing. People discuss upcoming fight cards fairly regularly from when they announced until when they take place. I thought this was a useful thread even back then since I don't crawl mma sites every day. It was news to me and exciting news at that.

I spend a fair amount of time and Sherdog and even Sherdog does not call him Ando. I've never heard that before. I've heard Anderson, A.Silva and even Andy Silva as a joke maybe.

That being said I am soooo busy this weekend I don't know if I'll get it. My only issue with this card's top 3 fights is that I like all the fighters so I don't know who to cheer for
