Outstanding performance for its size and power (12-25W TDP). Excellent even for HTPC (720p-1080p Gaming Console Alternative).
Starting at $229,00 for the 2C 4T SOC (AMD Ryzen™ Embedded V1202B) or $309,00 for the 4C 8T SOC (AMD Ryzen™ Embedded V1605B).

The UDOO BOLT is a quantum leap compared to current maker boards: a portable, breakthrough supercomputer that goes up to 3.6 GHz thanks to the brand-new AMD Ryzen™ Embedded V1000 SoC, a top-notch, multicore CPU with a mobile GPU on par with GTX 950M and an integrated Arduino™-compatible platform, all wrapped into one.

Looks like great specs for the price, but I will wait until they are available at retail to purchase.

Been burned one too many times on preorders to put my money down for one with release expected 6+ months from now.

Their first, very limited batch is currently in production. Next steps would be external certification, then delivery to early backers.
The first production run is limited, as the current board design has yet to complete the certification progress in an external testing lab. We have already extensively tested in-house, so do not conceive any issues to occur during the external certification process, however, it would be unwise for us to commit to a complete production run now, because if the lab orders a hardware revision, we would have to bin all the assembled boards! We believe you will agree that this would be a costly blunder!

The current production batch comprises boards for most of the backers of the EARLY BIRD UDOO BOLT V8 ($279) reward. If you backed this reward and your backer number is below 300, you are in luck and will receive the board this month or early next month!

The only thing that really bothers me is that as it stands, the Ryzen Embedded uses a different driver chain from the standard GPU. That means so far no Adrenalin GPU Package, It looks like they're still only on the 18 code train (probably because Embedded prizes stability over new features).

Still, like the laptop APUs, no one wants to do casual gaming on a platform that may not see new drivers a year after release :( Would really like to see the Embedded Ryzen platform get moved to the main driver train.

Since it is a kickstarter project, I suppose hype is necessary.
PR aside; while the Sapphire board is for thin clients, digital signage etc., the Udoo Bolt is for robotics and other "maker" applications. Its differentiating feature is the Arduino compatible pinout and IDE compatibility.

So what kind of applications would want/need Udoo Bolt that couldn't get by with a cheaper, slower SBC solution from other vendors? x86 is nice for a tiny desktop board, but in the maker world you can do just fine with ARM or something else entirely.
