UDMA/IDE cables with two double connectors.

hey guys,

I am not familar with the construction of these. I'm shopping for cables for my new computer and I'm trying to decide if I want to get two IDE cables for my DVD's burner and DVD-ROM or if I should get one cable that has two connectors.

-My question is basically if two drives are hooked up to the single cable can it fill that pipe and bottleneck? Would seperate IDE cables be better?

Thanks,
Rhino

And... Can anyone recommend a good website to buy cables and what a good brand is? I don't know why EVERYTHING is "UV" now I just want some high quality solid black round cables. Need a SATA, floppy, and a solution for two IDE DVD devices.

It's not that they bottleneck it from sheer throughput, but drive-to-drive (burning on the fly) or two drive reads will choke it because IDE is a shared medium. If you don't forsee a lot of the above two behaviours, go ahead and put them both on one cable.

Thanks Merc.

I didn't know if the cables construction actually had twice the pipe because of two connectors if it was shared or what.

You answered my question though thanks man!

Despite what many may say, I'm not a bastard 24/7. I have these spurts of decency and kindness. Use 'em while they're around. 😉
