Looks like BornStar turned in another 4000 point day today!

Hey Fingers, are you maximizing the points for the results you return?
I learned this trick from Memnochthedevil.

You have a little control over the points you receive for your processor and network score. The other two will remain static. You have to use a caching program like UD Monitor.

I was amazed when I saw TA members getting crazy points like 10,000 for 3 WU's. Memnochthedevil explained it. He is (was) running multiple projects on his system, but before he would let his UD results return, he would shutdown his other tasks giving UD control of his system when it benchmarked and returned results. The benchmark would show high results for his procesing power and determine that he was processing difficult results since the length of time to process them was so long. (the agent uses some formula of processing power x processing time for calculating points)

Your network score can be maximized, if you have broadband, by sending results when internet traffic is low. Mine tops out at around 179 or so.

Here is how I have my main box set up:
Running UDMonitor I have 12 WU's in my cache. (This was 2-3 days worth of units)
I set it up to go to the next work unit instead of sending in it's results.
Everyday, when I get up to go to work, I send in results (3-4 AM CST (GMT -6:00)).
This mazimizes my network score barring other network problems. During this time I make sure I have no other apps running, so my processor score is maxed.

You also get a side benefit from cacheing. The occassions that the servers are down, you get to continue processing since you are getting more work from your stored cache.
Also, if for some reason you have processed all you work units and have no more in your cache, you can set it to send/receive all cache slots to refresh you cache when it can connect.

Woo hoo, I'll be breaking 3M team points pretty soon! I probably won't be around for it (exams), so I'll celebrate early 😀

In other news, my Antec NeoPower 480 power supply gave out after only 6 months in my main box, so the cruncher that scores over 160 in VMWare will be down for a bit. My laptop's CPU fan is also dying, so that'll probably be out for a week or two, also.

Early congrats on your milestone Kloostec! 🙂

Sorry to hear about your hardware probs though....
Antec has pretty good customer service in my experience. (I have had a few that were dead out of the box or died during burn-in)

Anybody able to reach CyGoR's stat page today? I just get a time out error.....

I think I can safely say I just broke 2 million. 🙂

I'm still hanging around. I'm trying to recruit more crunchers so I can gain more spots. I've got my eye on Citrix. 😀

Hey, how's it going BornStar? Glad to see people are still actively recruiting! I'm adding people approximately as fast as people are reformatting and removing UD from their computers (people I sold computers to a while ago), so my production isn't changing much 😉

I'm still around, but I'm only checking every several days because my main computer is out of action and I'm in exams at the moment. Still wondering where CyGoR is (it seems his website is still borked), though... My replacement power supply should be delivered sometime while I'm in Hawaii 😉

I'm currently running on a P3 1 GHz which until today had 128 MB ram and a 5400 RPM hard drive. It was difficult to even surf the web on this box, as I was used to a 3500+ with 2 GB ram and a 5 disk 7200 RPM RAID5.

glad you guys are recruiting, I am slowly getting my friends to help out to fight cancer!

kloostec that is a brutal pc to use, glad your getting through it 🙂

Looks like the ud server is down right now, waiting for my units now.

I'm still up and running UD!
But I lost a couple of P4, I think I still got mine and 2 more running thou...
I'll try to find out more computers to run UD!

Hey guys....
I am still here too! 🙂
I've been doing a home remodel so PC time is limited.

Looks like the ud server is down right now, waiting for my units now.
Remember with UD Monitor you can cache multiple WU's so your PC's never stop crunching. (I have 11 completed WU's on my main box yet to transmit.)

Time to get out the tile saw... 😉

We're lost without Cygor! I'm continually losing more machines to Symantec ghost... rejoining them is going to be a pain... besides being able to find the time to do it, each device will need a new UD name, since the existing ones cannot be deleted or removed...

By the way, has anyone ever recieved a "bulk installer" from UD? I filled out an application to get one, but they never sent me so much as an e-mail about it... A bulk installer would make my setup much easier and quicker, at least from the .bat file that I currently use...

according to the UD calculator on "Network Potential" If I had every computer on the network (servers not included) running UD, I would have about 244.05 Gigaflops of processing power...

Did anyone else have an exceptional number of results returned yesterday? I had two computers combine for 27 results which is incredible since I don't cache WUs.

😱

Awesome! That's about my norm, but I have several machines running!

So close to #11. 🙂

XBassman, the funny thing about your situation is that it'll take you a couple years to catch up to our #1 point maker who isn't even on the team anymore. 🙂
