Well it's getting close to SIR time, and I still can't decide which school to go to. I got into UCLA as an EE major, and Berkeley as Engineering - Undeclared (and will likely go to EECS). I know Berkeley's EECS program is better than UCLA's EE program, but UCLA is offering me about 7k/year in scholarships.

Am I dumb for wanting to give up that money to go to Berkeley? I really want to go there, so push me in that direction!
 
Berkeley is more well-known, especially around the world. But that rep is both good and bad. Academics are good, but yes, it's still a haven for Communist pigs.
 
If you haven't visited both yet, you're screwing yourself. Both places have their own quirks that some students love and some students hate.

Berkeley is tops.

Though the $7k is compelling. The money though can dry up after the first year if you don't meet the commitments which is tough at UC with the bell curves.

Thus, go to Cal...it's safer.
