Does anybody knows what is UCLA chip is ?
I have GA-890GPA-UD3H Motherboard which is a Gigabyte motherboard.
All of sudden the on board Nic quit working (Will not enable; regardless Bios Option).
So I RMA the MB and I got an email it says under product type is says Disti MB, and remarks have nothing there.
So I call the Gigabyte and spoke to a person about my RMA and asked what was done to it. He said UCLA chip is replaced. I asked him what is that and he put on hold, and then Jason came on the phone and told me two capicator were missing😕 and they replaced :| it
I baffle how could be a capacitor would gone missing ? and in the world is UCLA chip is ?
Any idea ?

Hi Mir,

you did not say if there was a language issue--

UCLA? A fine school; football program has had some issues though. Not as bad as USC's problems which resulted in their probation for the next few years.

As for the mystery chip?

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3516#sp

T.I. TSB43AB23 chip: firewire.

The NIC is run by a Realtek 8111D chip

SATA? And manual calls that the GSATA--Gigabyte SATA

Sounds like there was an analog information loss somewhere in the loop--his pronunciation, the phone line transmission, or how well you could hear.

And, as for how a capacitor would go missing: maybe it was not soldered on to board properly, knocked off board in handling, in shipping, maybe because not properly packaged in box. There are many delicate attachments on motherboards. The surface mounted chips are on there good, but anything that sticks up can be scraped off.

However the reason I sent the MB cause I couldn't enable the on boad Ethernet card which was realkek nic.
