I just read this article when I woke up this morning. I'm pretty liberal and can understand why they have such courses, but I wouldn't think they'd be for units of any sort if you're going to be going to strip clubs and such 🙂
 
I could care less as long as it doesn't receive Federal funding. If their money pays for it, who cares... If OUR tax money pays for it then we have a problem....

Can you explain it to me then? Kids nowadays must be pretty dumb if they need a class on how to get a boner. 🙂

I was looking through DeCal courses a few weeks ago and I saw those.

And we did have a pr0n star speak on campus a year ago. I believe it was Nina Hartley.

I graduated from UCD in the fall and now work for the UCD Med Center. Hope to work for 2 years in order to save up enough money and attend grad school at ucd and get my teaching credential and then I'll teach high school biology 🙂 That's my grand plan anyway.

As for this course, it sounds interesting. I don't think it should be taught by students, but if actual faculty taught it, it would be really informational, and you'd get something out of it.

I had a friend who took the Tupac class at UCB and he liked it. His mother even came in and gave a lil presentation and so forth.

they had a decal last semester where they watched/analyzed porn. think it was called "fight club" or something. some guy gave me a flyer. i thought it was kinda funny.

Who would qualify to be a instructor? Just because it has a professional instructor doesn't mean you can tell mom about it when you get home for break 😛

The courses were offered under the university's "democratic education" or "de-cal" program, which are sponsored but not funded by the university. They are organized and run by student instructors and can be taken for credit toward graduation. Other such courses are Blackjack, where students are taught how to count cards, and Copwatch, which advises students "how to safely and effectively assert their rights when interacting with police."
