While the course seems like a joke at first, the course's homework assignments seem like they're getting harder. If I could take the course I would really enjoy it and take it seriously.

I would love to take that course, but if I had a kid and they registered for this on my dime I would kick their ass.

Wow. I'm jealous. Interesting step for a university to take. I can appreciate someone at least trying to look at the legitimate educational factor contained in certain games.

I'd personally hate to take a class about a computer game I enjoyed playing... It would make playing seem like work and could possibly take all the fun out of it by analyzing every little thing you do. Interesting idea for some, but not really for others. Also, seems to be a waste of money when a class about analyzing tactics and strategy using thinking skills could be done using some other topic like.... ummm, history?

Yeah, yeah, it's all fun and games until you find out, 5 minutes after the final exam ends, that you were actually controlling the war in iraq and are now a genocidal war criminal.

how much is that course??? all i gotta say is... suckers.
the game now is worth 20bux game w/ broodwar. You can learn everything in that class within maybe a month of playing online. Just looking at that HW, i could ace that class.
just boggles my mind. I wonder how many people enrolled.
I can understand this maybe in korea/japan where starcraft is still gigantic. But in the US where RTS games arent held in the same regard. i just dont know hah

At least where I attend school it doesn't cost you more to overload with classes.

So I'm taking 2 more than normal ;)

it's a DeCal course, which means that it is student run with a professor sponsorship, p/f. most are worth 1 and at most 2 units and are usually used to fill in schedules for students who have gaps and need the extra units to remain full time. i've taken quite a few of them myself :)

from hwk #3:

Is it more advantageous to attack in a line or to envelop your opponent?s army? Prove
your point using flux calculations.

Whats a flux calculation? I would think it had more to do with Surface area being exposed.

What you said can be explained mathematically through transport equations.

Many people fail epicly in business by not being strong delegaters, you'd think it anyone could handle delegating tasks but that is not the case. ;)

Lulz...10/10 on that one.

I can understand why they would make this a course. It's something interesting and could be studied in a variety of ways...military manuevers, psychology (addiction), etc.
