UBUNTU INSTALLATION

i would like to put xubuntu on an old computer. i downloaded the "iso image" from their website. now what do i do? is the "iso image" an exact copy of the live cd? do i just burn it onto a cd and will i then be able to live boot from it and install xubuntu ? so i guess my basic question is, in order to get a xubuntu live cd and installation cd do i have to do anything with the iso image or do i just burn it to a cd as downloaded (in order to make a live cd and installation disk) thanks

Just burn to a CD and boot from it. That is where to start, and go through the installation from there. 🙂

so all i do is burn the iso image that i downloaded to a cd and that cd will be bootable?

also if i decide to remove xubuntu from my hard drive is that easy? i dont need details right now but roughly what would i do to totally clean my hard drive in order to say, reinstall xp?

Yes, just burn the iso to a cd. Make sure you know how to burn an iso, you do not just copy the file to the CD. You have to use burning software that allows you to 'burn images'. If you do not have software that does this, I suggest InfraRecorder which is free and works great.

To uninstall ubuntu from your hard drive, you simply reformat that space and put whatever you want on the new free space. I would suggest playing with the live cd for a bit to make sure you like it.

CAN I DO IT WITH NERO EXPRESS? IF SO DO I BURN A "BOOTABLE DATA DISC" OR A "DISC IMAGE OR SAVED PROJECT" ? THERE ISNT A ISO DISC OPTION IN NERO.

dont do anything. if you want to reinstall XP later, just boot up with the XP disc, and when it comes time to select the partition to install to, pick the one with xubuntu on it and format. this will, of course, delete all the stuff on your xubuntu install so backup anything youd like to keep.

PLEASE DON'T POST IN ALL CAPS, IT IS REALLY ANNOYING AND MOST PEOPLE REALLY DON'T LIKE IT!

For nero you use the Image option then select the iso image.

you can do it with nero express, you are burning a disc image and you'll have to change filetype to all files to see the .iso file. The resulting disc will be bootable.
